From global tectonics to global geodynamics

open access: yesГеофизический журнал, 2018
Observations suggest that global (plate) tectonics operates on the Earth. The most characteristic features of the global tectonics are ocean floor spreading in mid-ocean ridges and subduction in deep-sea trenches.

New shear wave splitting measurements using broadband seismic data recorded by the BX seismological network in Botswana

open access: yesData in Brief, 2023
New measurements shear-wave splitting (SWS) were determined using a teleseismic dataset from 21 broadband seismic stations belonging to the GSN-BX network in Botswana archived at IRIS-DMC.

A coupled core-mantle evolution: review and future prospects

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science, 2020
In this review, I provide the current status and future prospects for the coupled core-mantle evolution and specifically summarize the constraints arising from geomagnetism and paleomagnetism on the long-term secular variations of the geomagnetic field ...

Interiors of Terrestrial Planets in Metric-Affine Gravity

open access: yesUniverse, 2021
Using a semiempirical approach, we show that modified gravity affects the internal properties of terrestrial planets, such as their physical characteristics of a core, mantle, and core–mantle boundary.

High Pressure Melting Curve of Fe Determined by Inter‐Metallic Fast Diffusion Technique

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
The heat extracted from the core by the overlying mantle across the core‐mantle boundary controls the thermal evolution of the core. This in turn leads to the solidification of the inner core in association with the exsolution of light alloying elements ...

The Gravity Signal of Mercury's Inner Core

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, 2022
In a reference frame rotating with Mercury's mantle and crust, the inner core and fluid core precess in a retrograde sense with a period of 58.646 days.

Reconstructing Quantum Dot Surfaces via Dual‐Functional Ligand Pairing Enables Efficient Shortwave Infrared Optoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a ligand‐pairing strategy that reconstructs lead sulfide quantum dot surfaces for efficient short‐wave infrared optoelectronics. A low‐reactivity thiourea precursor combined with hydrobromic acid enables monodisperse and fully passivated quantum dots.

Upwellings and Mantle Ponding Zones in the Lower Mantle Transition Zone (660–1000 km)

open access: yesGeosciences
Convective instabilities at various boundary layers in the earth’s mantle—including the core–mantle boundary, mantle transition zone and lithosphere-asthenosphere boundary— result in upwellings (mantle plumes) and downwellings (subducting slabs).

Two Routes to Land: Genomic Underpinnings of Parallel Aerial Egg Deposition in Aquatic Old‐World Pila and New‐World Pomacea (Ampullariidae)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Comparative genomics of Gondwana‐diverged Pila and Pomacea reveals parallel evolution of aerial oviposition. Convergent chromosomal rearrangements reshape regulatory landscapes within topologically associating domains. Lineage‐specific gene family expansions and viral‐derived perivitelline proteins (PV1) underpin desiccation resistance.

From Flow to Function: Using Different Static Mixers to Fabricate Microarchitected Materials Via Chaotic Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Complex microarchitectures emerge from simple flow‐driven transformations as static mixers iteratively reorient and split material domains. Coupled with diverse deposition strategies, chaotic printing provides an accessible platform for fabricating architected materials that support biologically and chemically relevant processes. ABSTRACT Nature builds
