Study of the mechanical behaviour of the elastic-core-spun yarns

The Journal of The Textile Institute, 2013
The elastane-core-spun yarns are hard to be controlled because of the absence of specific tests. Therefore, this study is aims to determine the appropriate conditions to test the mechanical behaviour in term of tensile and relaxation tests. In the present study, cotton-covered elastane-core-spun yarns were used with the same twist factor and various ...

Core-Spun Carbon Nanotube Yarn Supercapacitors for Wearable Electronic Textiles

ACS Nano, 2014
Linear (fiber or yarn) supercapacitors have demonstrated remarkable cyclic electrochemical performance as power source for wearable electronic textiles. The challenges are, first, to scale up the linear supercapacitors to a length that is suitable for textile manufacturing while their electrochemical performance is maintained or preferably further ...

Comparison of the properties of Ring, Solo, and Siro core‐spun yarns

Journal of the Textile Institute, 2011
In this research, core‐spun yarns with an acrylic sheath fiber and a nylon flat core have been produced on the Ring, SIRO, and Solo spinning systems and the effects of some factors were investigated. The studied factors consist of filament pre‐tension (i.e. 1, 7/5, 10, 15, 50, and 100 g), spinning system (Ring, SIRO, and Solo), and feed position of the

Tensile characteristics of Dref‐III friction core‐spun yarns

The Journal of The Textile Institute, 2010
The tensile characteristics of Dref‐III friction spun yarns with jute as core and cotton as sheath components have been studied. Three yarns with different core–sheath proportions such as 55/45, 65/35 and 75/25 jute/cotton friction spun yarns were produced by using the Dref‐III friction spinning system.

Production of core-spun yarn by the three-strand modified method

Journal of the Textile Institute, 2009
A common problem in the production of core-spun yarns on the ring spinning frame is slippage of the staple sheath fibres relative to the core. This effect is known as ‘strip-back’ or ‘barberpole’, which may lead to incomplete core coverage and result in end-breaks in subsequent processing.

Studies on Polyester/Waste Silk Core-spun Yarns and Fabrics

Journal of Industrial Textiles, 2009
In this study, 100% polyester and silk yarns and core-spun polyester silk yarns with two core/sheath ratios are produced. Fabrics are knitted from these yarns. Effect of core positioning on sheath coverage and core-sheath ratios and plying on various properties of yarns is analyzed.

Study on Alginate Fiber Core-Spun Yarn by Friction Spinning

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
Alginate fibres are difficult to spin on the traditional ring spinning machine. Friction core-spun yarn which took alginate fibers as main wrapped fibers and cotton yarn as core yarn were developed on DREF-Ⅲ. The influence of main spinning technical parameters, such as spinning speed, friction roller speed and core yarn percentage, on the yarn ...

Friction core-spun yarns for electrical properties of woven fabrics

Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, 2001
This paper reports a study to develop a spinning method of open-end friction core-spun yarn (OFCY) and its conductive fabric for shielding the electrostatic discharge and electromagnetic applications. To facilitate weaving of stainless steel (SW) and to reduce the material cost, initially OFCY yarn was made from SW core and polyester (PET) and ...

Effects of Spandex and Yarn Counts on the Properties of Elastic Core-spun Yarns Produced on Murata Vortex Spinner

Textile Research Journal, 2007
The present research focused on the effects of spandex and yarn count parameters on the properties of elastic core-spun vortex yarns. The experiment and test results indicated that the various properties of elastic core-spun vortex yarns were significantly affected by spandex and yarn count.
