Phase separation in binary hard-core mixtures [PDF]
We report the observation of a purely entropic demixing transition in a three-dimensional binary hard-core mixture by computer simulations. This transition is observed in a lattice model of a binary hard-core mixture of parallel cubes provided that the size asymmetry of the large and small particles is sufficiently large (≥3, in the present case).

Analytical Soft-Core Potentials for Macromolecular Fluids and Mixtures [PDF]
An analytical description of polymer melts and their mixtures as liquids of interacting soft colloidal particles is obtained from liquid-state theory. The derived center-of-mass pair correlation functions with no adjustable parameters reproduce those computed from united atom molecular dynamics simulations.

A superior cluster algorithm allows us to establish and to access the demixed phase for both systems and to investigate the subtle interplay between short-range depletion and long-range demixing.
