Investigating CT-Guided Transthoracic Core Needle Biopsy Specimens in Yazd Shahid Sadoughi Hospital

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ’Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Shahīd Ṣadūqī Yazd, 2013
Introduction: Despite the popularity of needle biopsy for obtaining tissue samples in several solid organs, its use in thoracic lesions has been very restricted in some hospitals. This study intended to investigate the CT-Guided transthoracic core needle

Non‐FDG‐Avid Metastasis Detected by Molecular Imaging in Unknown Primary of the Head and Neck

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
In a patient with squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary, the use of molecular imaging identified an additional site of metastasis not seen on traditional PET/CT. This aided in proper diagnosis and alteration of the patient's treatment plan. ABSTRACT Squamous cell carcinoma of unknown primary continues to be a diagnostic challenge.

Pulmonary capillary hemangioma diagnosed by needle core biopsy: Case report and review of the literature

open access: yesHuman Pathology: Case Reports, 2017
Pulmonary hemangiomas are extremely rare. Here we report a case of a 42 year old healthy woman with an incidental nodule identified by computed tomography (CT). In consideration of her smoking history and the appearance of irregular borders of the nodule

Necrotizing Sialometaplasia of Tubarial Glands With Rouvière Lymphadenitis Complicating Postradiotherapy Tumor Follow Up

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
PET‐CT of the nasopharynx depicting not only intensive PET avidity in the right Rouvière lymph node (A: arrows) correlating with MRI findings but also increased FDG avidity at the level of the torus tubarius (B: arrows), on the right more than on the left and along the posterior nasopharyngeal wall.

Femtosecond Laser‐Driven Fabrication of a Polymeric Lab‐on‐a‐Chip for Efficient Size‐Based Particle Sorting in a Spiral Microchannel

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Femtosecond laser 3D micromachining enables the fabrication of spiral microfluidic devices in polymethylmethacrylate with a trapezoidal cross‐section. The process relies on scanning speed as the main control parameter, ensuring high precision and scalability.

Counting glomeruli in human kidney specimens using ex vivo MRI without contrast agents

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose The total number of glomeruli is an important indicator of kidney function and susceptibility to disease. Glomeruli, however, are difficult to image using MRI without contrast enhancement. For this reason, previous studies have used cationic ferritin as a contrast agent to detect glomeruli in ex vivo and in vivo perfused kidneys.
