Programmable Mobile Core Network

2014 IEEE Symposium on Computers and Communications (ISCC), 2014
Mobile operators are recently forced to provide higher bandwidth connections to mobile users in order to manage fierce competition. As a result, operators started deployment of Long Term Evolution (LTE)/ Evolved Packet core (EPC) network. However, current LTE/EPC architecture, functions and protocols are not optimized.

Energy-efficient core networks

2012 16th International Conference on Optical Network Design and Modelling (ONDM), 2012
In this paper, we optimize core networks to minimize the embodied energy and the operational energy and introduce two measures for energy minimization in core content distribution networks: data compression in optical networks and locality in P2P networks.

Core-Periphery Trading Networks

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2016
This paper provides a theory of endogenous network formation in over-the-counter markets based on trade competition and inventory risk balancing. A core-periphery network structure arises as an equilibrium outcome. A small number of agents emerge as core dealers to intermediate among a large number of peripheral agents.

Rethinking IP Core Networks

Journal of Optical Communications and Networking, 2013
The Internet core today is completely based on IP routers. Circuits are only used to provide static point-to-point optical links between routers. As others have recognized, current practice makes it hard to take advantage of very high-speed, low-power optical circuit switches in the core.

Networks, Cores, and Peripheries

2012
AbstractThe terms “core,” “periphery,” and “frontier” conjure up spatial distinctions correlated with divisions among societies based on size, economic organization, and power. Leaders of core states are generally presumed to dominate developments within the smaller, poorer, less powerful societies arrayed around them.

Progressive network recovery in optical core networks

2015 7th International Workshop on Reliable Networks Design and Modeling (RNDM), 2015
Disasters hit telecommunication structures every year. As Earth becomes more disaster-prone, telecom networks, and especially optical networks due to their high capacity, should be designed to prepare against disasters. Although disaster resiliency for optical core networks has been subject of significant recent research, damages on the network ...

5G core network essentials

2022
L'élaboration des systèmes 5G a débuté par la définition de différents critères de performance. Un système 5G a plusieurs déclinaisons qui peuvent être instanciées sur une même infrastructure matériel et évoluer au cours du temps en fonction des demandes.
