The leaf‐footed cactus bug is not a cactus specialist: Narnia femorata feeds, fights, and mates on thistle

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2024.
We recently found a population of the leaf‐footed cactus bug, Narnia femorata (Hemiptera: Coreidae), a historical cactus specialist, living on thistle. When we compared this thistle population with a population feeding on cactus, the population living on thistle had longer mouthparts than the population found on cactus, although this difference only ...

Effects of climate on the phenology of Annona senegalensis Pers. (Annonaceae) and the distribution of associated insects in Burkina Faso

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2024.
Climatic factors have an impact on the phenology of Annona senegalensis by shortening or lengthening the phenological phases in Burkina Faso. This affects the diversity and abundance of insects associated with this plant in cliamatic zones. Abstract Climate change and global warming in the Sahelian region cause dramatic drought and advancing of the ...

Damage caused by Leptoglossus occidentalis Heidemann (Hemiptera: Coreidae) on Pinus pinea L. cones varies with feeding season

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 26, Issue 3, Page 386-400, August 2024.
Abstract The commercialization of pine nuts generates major economic benefits for the Mediterranean basin. This has been reduced due to an increase in cone and seed damage associated with the spread of the western conifer seed bug (WCSB) throughout the Mediterranean region and the Dry Cone Syndrome appearing on pine cones.
