Modeling of spreading of the melted corium jet inside the pool of emergency heat removal during severe accidents at NPP [PDF]
Important nuclear power safety problem in touch with modeling of melted corium jet spreading inside the coolant pool is considered in the paper. It appears by development of the passive protection systems against se-vere accidents.

In the field of severe accident, the description of corium progression events is mainly carried out by using integral calculation codes. However, these tools are usually based on bounding assumptions because of high complexity of phenomena.

Numerical Simulation and Validation for Early Core Degradation Phase under Severe Accidents
Early core degradation determines the amount of hydrogen generated by cladding oxidation as well as the temperature, the mass, and the composition of corium that further relocates into the lower head of reactor pressure vessel (RPV), which is essential ...

ABSTRACT Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) remains largely incurable due to the blood‐brain barrier (BBB) and immunosuppressive microenvironment. While boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) selectively eradicates tumor cells via 10B(n, α)‐7Li reactions, its clinical potential in GBM is unrealized because of the suboptimal pharmacokinetics of conventional ...

Problem of corium melt coolability in passive protection systems against severe accidents in the containment [PDF]
Paper is devoted to the development of the mathematical model and analysis of the problem of corium melt interaction with low-temperature melting blocks in the passive protection systems against severe accidents at the NPP, which is of high importance ...

Chronic diabetic wounds are hindered by a “dual trap” of biofilm resistance and hyperinflammation. A mesoporous catalytic‐adsorptive nano‐regulator is developed to dismantle this barrier through simultaneous eDNA degradation and LPS sequestration. By silencing TLR4/9‐mediated signaling, the platform clears resilient pathogens and reprograms the immune ...

A minimally invasive optical window enables stable, long‐term imaging of peripheral nerves in vivo at single‐axon resolution. Dynamic processes of degeneration, regeneration, and cellular remodeling are visualized across multiple time scales within the same nerve region, providing a unique platform to study a variety of anatomical and molecular events ...

Nanodiamonds as Bioactive Platforms to Modulate Microbial, Mammalian, and Vertebrate Systems
Nanodiamonds (NDs) are biocompatible and antibacterial nanomaterials that support mammalian cell growth while inhibiting bacterial pathogens. NDs showed strong antibacterial activity, with Escherichia coli being more sensitive than Staphylococcus aureus. At 10 mg/mL, both bacteria exhibited ~8% viability.

Modelling of Severe Accident and In-Vessel Melt Retention Possibilities in BWR Type Reactor
One of the severe accident management strategies for nuclear reactors is the melted corium retention inside the reactor pressure vessel. The work presented in this article investigates the application of in-vessel retention (IVR) severe accident ...
