RISK AND RETURN TO IP GRAIN PRODUCTION: THE CASE OF HIGH OIL CORN [PDF]

open access: yes
Returns for soybeans, commodity corn and high oil corn under an export and domestic market buyer's-call contract were simulated. High oil corn is competitive with commodity corn when yield drag is two percent and bundling reduces seed cost.

Phase Engineering of a 1D van der Waals Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Explores the transformative potential of 1D van der Waals materials, focusing on the monoclinic‐to‐tetragonal phase transition in NbTe4, its atomic‐scale mechanisms, and significant metal‐insulator transition (MIT) behavior. Highlights advanced imaging insights and the applications of reversible phase transitions in memory devices, sensors, and ...

Nanofillers Reinforcing Biopolymer Composites for Sustainable Food Packaging Applications: A State‐of‐the‐Art Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Biopolymers are sustainable, biodegradable alternatives to petroleum‐based plastics for food packaging. Its adoption is often limited by poor mechanical strength, barrier properties, and improved thermal stability through the incorporation of nanofillers.

MANAGING THE CORN ROOTWORM VARIANT: EMPIRICAL RESULTS FROM AN INDIANA FARMER SURVEY [PDF]

open access: yes
The emergence of a corn rootworm "variant" has reduced the effectiveness of a corn-soybean rotation in some areas of Indiana. This research identifies potential control alternatives.

Magnetically Guided Mechanoactive Mineralization Scaffolds for Enhanced Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed ‘rebar‐concrete’ inspired scaffold (PGS‐P@MGel) synergizes spontaneous biomineralization with magneto‐mechanical stimulation through PDA@Fe3O4‐embedded hydrogel. This dual biointerface activates Piezo1/β‐catenin/YAP mechanotransduction axis, enhancing BMSCs osteogenesis and angiogenesis simultaneously.

Analyzing the Effects of Weather and Biotechnology Adoption on Corn Yields and Crop Insurance Performance in the U.S. Corn Belt [PDF]

open access: yes
Favorable weather and the adoption of Genetically Modified (GM) corn hybrids are often argued to be factors that explain recent corn yield increases and risk reduction in the U.S. Corn Belt.
