The effect of corneal flap on optical aberrations

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology, 2004
To evaluate the changes in ocular aberrations induced by corneal flap creation.Prospective interventional nonrandomized clinical trial. This study included 15 patients who were scheduled for laser in situ keratomileusis. A nasal hinge flap was created, using the Nidek MK-2000 microkeratome and then replaced without performing laser ablation.

Repeatability of corneal first-surface wavefront aberrations measured with Pentacam corneal topography

open access: yesJournal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2008
To assess the repeatability of corneal wavefront aberrations derived from Pentacam (Oculus) corneal topography.Flinders Eye Centre, Flinders Medical Centre, Bedford Park, South Australia, Australia.Forty-five normal participants and 10 participants with keratoconus were tested.

Corneal aberrations andanisometropia in children

Clinical and Experimental Optometry, 2021
Children with anisometropia have different refractive errors in each eye. Studies reported similar ocular higher-order aberrations (HOAs) in each eye within anisometropia. It is unclear whether binocular corneal HOAs within anisometropia are likewise similar. This study compared interocular differences in corneal HOAs among children with anisometropia,

The Effect of Corneal Wavefront Aberrations on Corneal Pseudoaccommodation

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2012
To determine the effect on corneal pseudoaccommodation of anterior corneal wavefront aberrations in normal corneas and corneas with prior myopic or hyperopic photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).Theoretical study. In 220 normal eyes, 102 myopic-PRK eyes, and 106 hyperopic-LASIK/PRK eyes, anterior corneal ...

Measurement Repeatability of Corneal Aberrations

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2002
ABSTRACT PURPOSE: Customized procedures that aim to improve visual performance beyond traditional sole correction of sphere and cylinder require the reliable determination of higher order corneal and ocular aberrations for individual eyes.

Intracorneal Hydrogel Lenses and Corneal Aberrations

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2005
ABSTRACT PURPOSE: To investigate the optical performance of the cornea based on corneal aberrometry following intracorneal hydrogel lens implantation. METHODS: A retrospective, nonconsecutive, observational study of the anterior corneal surface aberration profile of four hyperopic eyes previously implanted with an intracorneal ...

The Diurnal Variation of Corneal Topography and Aberrations

Cornea, 2005
To investigate if diurnal variation occurs in corneal topography.Seventeen young subjects had corneal topography measured 3 times a day (around 9 AM, 1 PM, and 5 PM) on 3 days of the week (Monday, Tuesday, and Friday). Corneal tangential and refractive power were analyzed. To investigate diurnal variation in corneal aberrations, the corneal height data

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2011
To study the corneal nerves in patients with chronic bullous keratopathy.Prospective observational case series with histologic evaluation. We studied 25 eyes of 25 bullous keratopathy patients of different etiologies (17 female, 8 male; mean age, 76.3 years) as well as 6 eyes of 6 normal control subjects (5 male, 1 female; mean age, 38 years).

Corneal Thickness Association With Ocular and Corneal High-Order Aberrations

Eye & Contact Lens: Science & Clinical Practice, 2009
To investigate the association among central corneal thickness, peripheral corneal thickness (PCT), and wavefront aberrations in the anterior cornea, posterior cornea and the whole eye in myopia.Sixty-four eyes of 64 myopic subjects were evaluated with a Pentacam rotating Scheimpflug camera (Oculus, Inc., WA) corneal topographer for: (1) wavefront ...
