Ocular higher-order aberrations and visual performance [PDF]
Since adaptive optics was first used to correct the monochromatic aberrations of the eye over a decade ago there has been considerable interest in correcting the ocular aberrations beyond defocus and astigmatism.

Global Rather Than Vertical‐Selective Saccadic Abnormalities in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy
ABSTRACT Objective To test whether vertical saccades are preferentially affected in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). Methods PSP patients (n = 24) were compared to age‐matched controls (n = 94) and two degenerative groups (Alzheimer's disease, n = 20; Lewy body disease, n = 50).

Changes in corneal higher-order aberrations following PreserFlo MicroShunt implantation
In this retrospective study, we evaluated changes in corneal higher-order aberrations (HOAs) after PreserFlo MicroShunt (PFM) implantation and examined factors associated with the outcomes.

Objective The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögren's International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0–4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0–3) as predictors of DED signs (abnormal ocular ...

Corneal aberration changes after rigid gas permeable contact lens wear in keratokonic patients
Purpose: To determine the short-term effect of rigid gas permeable (RGP) contact lenses on corneal aberrations in keratoconic patients. Method: Sixteen keratoconic eyes with no history of RGP lens wear were included.

This article introduces a soft wearable eyelid sling device incorporating a hydraulic soft artificial muscle (SAM) for achieving complete closure of an eyelid. The SAM is driven by a cam mechanism that provides a displacement profile closely matched with those of a healthy eyelid.

Evaluation of interface quality in organ-cultured lamellar corneal transplants [PDF]
Background: With increasing numbers of lamellar keratoplasties, eye banks are challenged to deliver precut lamellar donor tissue. In Europe, the most common technique of corneal storage is organ culture which requires a deswelling process before surgical

Tumbling Magnetic Microrobots for Targeted In Vivo Drug Delivery in the GI Tract
We introduce a microrobot design and integrated system for on‐demand targeted drug release in the gastrointestinal tract. The microrobot has an embedded magnet for actuation with external magnetic fields and is visualized in real time using ultrasound. It has two drug release ports sealed with a thermally sensitive wax. Local heating of the wax using a

Age-related changes in ocular and corneal aberrations
To compare the ocular and corneal higher-order aberrations (HA) in eyes of different ages.Observational cross-sectional study.Sixty-six eyes of 66 normal subjects (age range 4-69 years; average 37.4 +/- 15.4 years) were examined. Wavefront aberrations of the whole eye (ocular) and cornea were measured for the central 4 mm using a Hartmann-Shack ...
