Microgel‐Based Immunomodulatory Biomaterials for Regulating Macrophage Polarization
Macrophages are key regulators of the immune system. Modulating their phenotype from pro‐inflammatory (M1) to pro‐regenerative (M2) is key to engineering implantable tissue scaffolds for regenerative medicine. Understanding the cell‐matrix mechanosensitive trends macrophages exhibit with microgel‐based biomaterials will enhance future research.
