Corneal edema: Cause and treatment

Survey of Ophthalmology, 1975

Ketamine-Associated Corneal Edema

Cornea, 2012
To report a case of ketamine-associated corneal edema.Case report.A 61-year-old man prescribed oral ketamine for refractory depression developed bilateral corneal edema. This immediately resolved off ketamine and recurred with rechallenge. Rapid corneal endothelial cell loss occurred during this period.Ketamine may induce potentially reversible corneal

Topographical corneal edema

Acta Ophthalmologica, 1993
Abstract. Measurement of the topographical corneal edema response has been previously restricted by the use of optical pachometry and small sample sizes. This study uses ultrasound pachometry to measure changes in the corneal thickness of 23 subjects at 9 locations during 2 hours' wear of a thick soft contact lens.

Phosphatic Metabolism and Corneal Edema

Cornea, 1991
From three groups of patients with corneal edema, the degree of edema was clinically quantified prior to penetrating keratoplasty. Corneas from patients with failed grafts (n = 16) had the greatest edema (mean score 3.8 +/- 0.6 SE), corneas with Fuchs' endothelial dystrophy (n = 12) had the least edema (1.4 +/- 0.4), and corneas with aphakic and ...

Amantadine induced reversible corneal edema

Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2011
Amantadine is becoming more commonly used for Parkinson's disease (PD), particularly for its efficacy in treating the drug-induced dyskinesias. Corneal edema is a known but unusual side effect of amantadine therapy, rarely reported in the neurological literature. We report amantadine-induced reversible corneal edema in a patient with advanced PD.

Corneal Edema Induced by Cold

Ophthalmologica, 1992
We report on a patient, who regularly developed reversible corneal edema of the right eye after cold stress. Cycling tours in cold weather and windy conditions seemed to precipitate the edema. After a provocation test, we also observed transient, corneal edema.

Corneal edema resolution after “descemetorhexis”

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2003
A 79-year-old woman had left eye phacoemulsification complicated by inadvertent excision of Descemet's membrane (DM). One day postoperatively, the visual acuity was counting fingers with diffuse corneal edema. The patient was treated medically, with gradual resolution of the corneal edema over a 6-month period.
