Australian and New Zealand Glaucoma Society (ANZGS) Consensus on Interventional Glaucoma

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Traditional reactive ‘wait and see’ approaches in glaucoma management often result in unacceptable rates of permanent vision loss. This consensus defines a proactive ‘interventional glaucoma’ framework tailored for the Australian and New Zealand healthcare context. Methods A modified Delphi consensus process was utilised, consisting

Decellularised Corneal Stromal Lamina With or Without Autologous Adipose‐Derived Adult Stem Cells for Advanced Keratoconus: 1‐Year Results of a Phase I/IIa Clinical Trial

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To report the 1‐year clinical outcomes of decellularised human corneal stromal lamina implantation, with or without autologous adipose‐derived adult stem cells (ADASCs), for advanced keratoconus in a European cohort. Methods In this prospective, randomised Phase I/IIa trial, 10 eyes of 10 patients were allocated to decellularised ...

Premium Intraocular Lens Selection in Patients With Glaucoma: A Clinical Review

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Glaucoma frequently coexists with cataract, but glaucomatous functional loss, ocular‐surface disease, anatomical abnormalities, and treatment‐related refractive variability may reduce tolerance of premium intraocular lenses. This narrative review critically appraises evidence relevant to lens selection in glaucoma. Central visual‐field status,

VEGF‐A Antisense Oligonucleotide Therapy Inhibits Corneal Neovascularisation and Enhances Graft Survival in Murine High‐Risk Corneal Transplantation

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Ophthalmology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To investigate, for the first time, whether an unconjugated VEGF‐A antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) can inhibit corneal neovascularisation and improve graft survival in a murine high‐risk corneal transplantation model. Methods A suture‐induced corneal neovascularisation model was established in BALB/c mice, followed by high‐risk ...

Zeb2 Controls Retinal Physiological and Pathological Angiogenesis by Regulating Astrocyte Proliferation and Differentiation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
During development, the oxygen‐sensitive transcription factor Zeb2 restrains astrocyte proliferation and maturation to ensure balanced retinal angiogenesis. In disease, it promotes the neurotoxic A1 astrocyte phenotype and inflammation, thereby promoting reparative revascularization over pathological neovascularization.

Tetrahedral Framework Nucleic Acid Delivery of miR‐210‐3p Promotes Femoral Bone Regeneration Through EFNA3/AKT/STAT3‐Mediated Immunomodulation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Schematic of tFNA‐miR‐210‐3p fabrication, macrophage regulation and femoral defect therapy: it enters macrophages, inhibits EFNA3 to induce M2 polarisation and boosts rat bone repair in vivo. ABSTRACT Persistent inflammation, insufficient vascularization and impaired osteogenesis limit the repair of critical‐sized femoral defects. Although microRNA‐210‐
