HMGCR‐Driven Cholesterol Metabolism Promotes Osteoarthritis Progression by Accelerating Synovial Fibroblast Senescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the pathological context of osteoarthritis (OA), the phosphorylation of AKT1 at Ser473 enhances its binding to Lys140 of Insig1, which facilitates the formation of AKT1–Insig1 complex. Subsequently, the activation of AKT1 promotes the phosphorylation of Insig1 at Ser189, potentially enhancing the dissociation of Insig1 from sterol regulatory element‑

Transforming corneal alkali burn treatment: unveiling mechanisms and pioneering therapies from bench to bedside

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine
Corneal alkali burns are severe ocular injuries characterized by extensive tissue damage, inflammation, oxidative stress, and neovascularization, which often lead to long-term visual impairment and corneal fibrosis.

Features of the Content of Cellular Messengers of Inflammation in Eye Injuries

open access: yesOftalʹmologiâ, 2020
Eye injury is one of the actual problems in modern ophthalmology. Penetrating wounds of the cornea are the most significant among all eye injuries. New data on the course of inflammation in corneal injury will allow us to predict the course of the post ...

ROS‐Responsive Eye Drop for Controlled Release of 20‐Deoxyingenol Improves Diabetic Corneal Healing by Activating Macrophage Autophagy and Metabolic Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of ROS‐responsive TSPBA‐PVA microspheres loaded with 20‐deoxyingenol (TP/20‐DOI) for diabetic corneal wound healing: (a) fabrication and ROS‐triggered release; (b) autophagy activation and metabolic reprogramming in macrophages; (c) suppression of macrophage‐derived CXCL3/CXCL5, attenuation of neutrophil infiltration, and ...

Comparison of rat hypertrophic scar models: Caudal tension model with superior pathological consistency

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study compared hypertrophic scar (HS) formation in SD rats at ear, back, and tail sites with or without mechanical tension. The ear model healed spontaneously by day 30. Dorsal full‐thickness excision (1 × 8 cm) produced moderate HS. In contrast, the tail tension model showed the greatest scar thickness, fibroblast density, collagen deposition ...

Sappanwood extract modulates hepatic structure–function in hepatomegaly and hepcidin related iron regulatory pathways in a phenylhydrazine induced hemolytic anemia rat model relevant to thalassemia

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Phenylhydrazine (PHZ) induces hemolytic anemia characterized by increased erythrocyte destruction and ineffective erythropoiesis, leading to hepcidin suppression through disruption of the BMP/SMAD signaling pathway. Reduced hepcidin levels enhance intestinal iron absorption and hepatic iron accumulation, leading to hepatic iron overload.

1,2‐propanediol reformulation improves tribromoethanol safety and reveals pontine GABRA1 enrichment as a candidate mechanistic correlate of anesthesia

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study develops a reformulated tribromoethanol (TBE) anesthetic using 1,2‐propanediol as a solvent to overcome solvent‐related toxicity. The novel formulation demonstrates, cardiovascular stability, and survival in prolonged protocols. It provides potent, dose‐dependent anesthesia without strain or sex differences.
