Corneal thickness measurements: Scanning-slit corneal topography and noncontact specular microscopy versus ultrasonic pachymetry

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2003
To compare central corneal thickness measurements taken with 3 pachymetry systems: Orbscan scanning-slit corneal topography/pachymetry, Topcon SP2000P noncontact specular microscopy, and Tomey ultrasonic pachymetry.Multicenter study, Tokyo, Japan. In 216 healthy eyes of 114 subjects, scanning-slit topography, noncontact specular microscopy, and ...

High-Frequency Ultrasound Corneal Pachymetry in the Assessment of Corneal Scars for Therapeutic Planning

Eye & Contact Lens: Science & Clinical Practice, 1994
We used high-frequency ultrasound B-scanning with digital signal processing for pachymetric analysis of corneal scars to help determine the optimal management strategy. Four patients were selected for this report. By an automated motor system, 12 consecutive, parallel ultrasound B-scans, each 2.5 to 3 mm wide at 0.25 mm intervals, were obtained from ...

Correction Factor in Orbscan II in the Assessment of Corneal Pachymetry

Cornea, 2006
Comparison of corneal pachymetry assessment with ultrasound and Orbscan II using acoustic factor and subtraction methods.Ultrasound and Orbscan pachymetry for all patients with LASIK performed between July 2002 and May 2003 were retrospectively analyzed. Comparison between the 2 preoperative measurements was analyzed.Using a custom acoustic factor of 0.

Pachymetry Map of Corneal Epithelium in Children Wearing Orthokeratology Contact Lenses

Current Eye Research, 2013
To study the pachymetry map of the corneal epithelium in children wearing orthokeratology lenses automatically generated by a Fourier-domain optical coherence tomography. The study was conducted on 60 children who had been fitted with myopic orthokeratology lenses.

Improved ultrasound pachymetry at corneal mid-periphery

1987
Surgeons performing radial keratotomies currently rely mainly on central and paracentral measurements to set blade depths since the mid-peripheral thickness is normally greater (Martola & Baum, 1968; Tomlinson, 1972). However, the occurrence of corneal irregularities and resultant perforations together with the increasing use of other forms of kerato ...

Comparison of optical and ultrasound central corneal pachymetry.

Bulletin de la Societe belge d'ophtalmologie, 2001
In 100 eyes of 50 patients central corneal thickness was measured comparing optical to ultrasound pachymetry. With optical pachymetry the values were 1 to 40 micrometer (microns) lower in 64 eyes compared to ultrasound pachymetry. With ultrasound pachymetry the values were 1 to 18 microns lower in 26 eyes compared to optical pachymetry.
