Corneal topography

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 1997
In the review period, limitations of individual Placido disk-based topography systems have been studied and new principles, such as raster photogrammetry, pancorneal slit topography, laser holographic interferometry, and confocal laser scanning topography, have been introduced for laboratory or clinical work.

Corneal Topography

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1981
We present an introduction to a clinical quantitative corneascope for measurement of corneal topography in detail. This instrument provides contour keratometry in all corneal meridians. We review the normal myopic and hyperopic eye contours, keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, and wound gape and compression related to cataract surgery.

The Corneal Topography of Epikeratophakia

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 1990
ABSTRACT: Epikeratophakia is a surgical technique initially developed for the correction of aphakia, and later adapted for the correction of keratoconus and myopia. The concurrent development of colorcoded computerized corneal topography has greatly assisted in the evolution of epikeratophakia. Corneal topography has demonstrated the importance of both

Corneal Topography in LASIK

Seminars in Ophthalmology, 1998
Corneal topography plays an important role in laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). Preoperative screening permits the detection of keratoconus and other corneal shape anomalies that may be a contraindication for refractive surgery. Monitoring the progress of the surgical outcome with topography is helpful to detect postoperative complications such as ...

Understanding corneal topography

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2000
With the increase in corneal laser refractive surgery, there is a greater need for precise evaluation of the corneal surface. Articles published in the past year have reported possible use of confocal scanning laser technology-based devices to image the cornea.

Corneal Topography of Keratoconus

Cornea, 1991
Sixty-three eyes of 49 patients with keratoconus were studied by means of computer-assisted corneal topographic analysis. Two patients with keratoconus in one eye had no topographic evidence of keratoconus in the opposite eye. Keratoconic topographic alterations were classified into two groups.

Corneal Topography and Accommodation

Cornea, 2003
To investigate whether there are significant changes in corneal topography during accommodation in normal corneas and corneas that are pathologically thinner due to keratoconus.A videokeratoscope was modified to present an accommodation stimulus that was coaxial with the instrument's measurement axis.

Corneal topography

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 1993
As more clinicians utilize videokeratography, an understanding of corneal topography is assuming an increasing role in the practice of ophthalmology. During this past year investigators have critically examined the methods employed in the utility of these devices as well as the accuracy and reproducibility of the algorithms embodied in ...

Corneal topography

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 1994
Computer-assisted videokeratography systems are becoming the prevailing method for analysis of the corneal surface. A realistic insight into the limitations of these topography systems is critical for proper interpretation of the data. Methods based on reflections have limited accuracy when measuring aspherical surfaces.
