Electrospun Poly (Glycerol Sebacate) (PGS) Membranes for Corneal Tissue Engineering

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Fibrous PGS membranes that are composed of homogenous fibers are fabricated by electrospinning. Durability and permeability of the membranes closely resemble the natural cornea. Thereby, successfully supporting the proliferation of human corneal epithelial cells (HCEC) and human corneal endothelial cells (HCEndC).

Cell Apoptosis and Glucocorticoid‐Induced Osteonecrosis

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
The review identifies glucocorticoid‐induced osteocyte/osteoblast apoptosis as central to femoral head osteonecrosis (GION), mediated through STAT1‐caspase‐3, PI3K/Akt, Wnt/β‐catenin, and oxidative stress pathways. Emerging therapies targeting these pathways (e.g., HIF‐1α stabilization, AMPK activation, and exosome‐mediated miRNA delivery) show ...

The donation-transplantation process and corneal graft failure: A case-control study.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
IntroductionThe survival after a corneal transplantation depends on several factors, many of which are not fully known.ObjectiveThe present study aimed to verify the relationship between the factors inherent to the donation-transplantation process in ...

The Evolving Landscape of Immunotoxicity: Charting Mechanisms and Future Strategies for Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Adverse Events

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has significantly improved the efficacy of cancer therapy, but their associated immune‐related adverse events (irAEs) can severely compromise treatment safety. This review systematically summarizes the core mechanisms underlying irAEs, which include multi‐organ damage resulting from T‐cell ...

The influence of cervical and thoracic lymphadenectomy on corneal allograft rejection in inbred rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Aim To investigate the site of alloantigen presentation in the rat following orthotopic corneal transplantation. Methods Adult inbred Fischer 344 rats received penetrating corneal allografts from inbred Wistar Furth donors (n¼17), without lymphadenectomy.
