Corneal wavefront aberration measurements to detect keratoconus patients

Contact Lens and Anterior Eye, 2005
Distortions of the cornea associated with keratoconus are the manifestations of increased level, compared to normal, of higher order aberrations. It is highly relevant to use corneal aberrations to describe the optical quality of the cornea. The aim of the current study was to develop a keratoconus detection scheme based on Zernike coefficients.

Corneal wavefront–guided enhancement for high levels of corneal coma aberration after laser in situ keratomileusis

open access: yesJournal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2008
To evaluate the improvement in visual and optical performance after corneal wavefront-guided laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) enhancement in patients with high levels of corneal coma aberration and complaints about quality of vision.Vissum-Instituto Oftalmológico de Alicante, Alicante, Spain.Corneal wavefront-guided LASIK enhancement was performed ...

Wavefront aberration and its association with intraocular pressure and central corneal thickness in myopic eyes

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2007
To investigate the association between intraocular pressure (IOP), central corneal thickness (CCT), or both and wavefront aberrations in the anterior cornea and the whole eye in myopia.Wenzhou Medical College, Wenzhou, Zhejiang, China.Seventy myopic subjects were tested with a Humphrey corneal topographer for wavefront aberrations in the anterior ...

Higher-Order Wavefront Aberrations in Corneal Refractive Therapy

Optometry and Vision Science, 2003
To assess the changes in higher-order (third through sixth) ocular wavefront aberrations produced by Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT; Paragon Vision Sciences, Mesa, AZ).Eighteen eyes of nine myopic subjects were fit with CRT contact lenses. Baseline subjective spherical refraction ranged from -2.25 to -6.00 D (mean +/- SD, -3.33 +/- 1.26 D), and ...

From corneal shape to ocular wavefront in eyes with aspheric IOLs: the feasibility of IOL customisation

open access: yesOphthalmic and Physiological Optics, 2016
Purpose: To determine if it is possible to predict the ocular wavefront aberrations of eyes with an aspheric IOL from the corneal shape and other readily available eye characteristics. A reliable prediction is a prerequisite for future IOL customisation.

The Effect of Corneal Wavefront Aberrations on Corneal Pseudoaccommodation

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2012
To determine the effect on corneal pseudoaccommodation of anterior corneal wavefront aberrations in normal corneas and corneas with prior myopic or hyperopic photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).Theoretical study. In 220 normal eyes, 102 myopic-PRK eyes, and 106 hyperopic-LASIK/PRK eyes, anterior corneal ...

Corneal Reshaping and Wavefront Aberrations During Overnight Orthokeratology

Eye & Contact Lens: Science & Clinical Practice, 2014
To investigate changes of corneal thickness at the vertical and horizontal meridians and of wavefront aberrations (WA) over a 30-day period of overnight myopia orthokeratology (OK) lens wear.Sixteen subjects (11 women, 5 men, 26.3±3.2 years) were enrolled and fitted for OK lenses. Long scan depth optical coherence tomography was used to measure corneal

Corneal Wavefront Aberrations After Primary and Recurrent Pterygium Surgery

Eye & Contact Lens: Science & Clinical Practice, 2015
To evaluate the effect of primary and recurrent pterygium surgery on corneal wavefront aberrations. This prospective and interventional study included the 47 eyes of 47 patients with primary pterygium (primary group) and 41 eyes of 41 patients with recurrent pterygium (recurrent group).

Correlation Between Corneal and Total Wavefront Aberrations in Myopic Eyes

Journal of Refractive Surgery, 2003
ABSTRACT PURPOSE: Corneal topography data expressed as corneal aberrations are frequently used to report corneal laser surgery results. However, the optical image quality depends on all optical elements of the eye, including the human lens.
