The Corona Discharge Transducer

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1954
Measurements have continued and will be reported on the dynamic pressure sensitivity of a point-to-plane corona discharge. It was found previously that the sensitivity of the device using a 6.3-mil diameter wire is proportional to the square of the ratio of current drawn by the discharge to potential across the discharge (conductance).

Color corona discharge images

IEEE Transactions on Plasma Science, 1996
A corona discharge photography system using a transparent electrode, which allowed removing the film from the discharge, was constructed. Color photographs were produced from the discharge on various object electrodes. It is shown that the color is dependent on the material within the discharge, and that the "engineering" of the color pattern is ...

Corona discharge treatment

Pigment & Resin Technology, 1987
The coating, printing and bonding of both single and multi‐layer paper, plastic, foil, and tin‐plate products can be a complex process. Creating an environment where adhesives, inks or substrate materials will adhere successfully to each other, demands that certain essential parameters are fulfilled.

The surge corona discharge

Proceedings of the IEE Part C: Monographs, 1961
Exploratory experiments are described followed by an account of a more systematic study of the corona discharge with concentric-cylinder electrodes. From experimental records which relate the charge flow in an external circuit to the applied voltage, the corona current and energy loss were derived.

Negative corona discharge in liquid helium

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2006
Conductivity and ionization mechanisms in liquid helium have been investigated by using high field conduction phenomena occurring near a sharp needle electrode. When the voltage V applied between the needle and the plane is greater than some threshold voltage Vs, a corona-like discharge regime was observed.

Corona discharge on rubber-insulated cables

Electrical Engineering, 1940
When rubber-insulated cables operate at higher than 1,500 volts potential, conditions may be favorable to the production of corona discharge over all or a portion of the outer surface of the insulation, or its braid covering. The cable may be on an inner metal conduit surface, or lie on a grounded flat metal surface, all of these conditions being ...

Daylight corona discharge imager

11th International Symposium on High-Voltage Engineering (ISH 99), 1999
Ofil Ltd. has developed a Bispectral Visible-Solar Blind UV video imager (DayCor Camera), that is suitable for corona and partial discharges imaging in full daylight. This system detects and locates weak corona signals in full daylight by overlaying a UV video image of the corona on a visible video image of the surrounding scene.

Corona discharge streamer model

IEE Proceedings C Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1992
Starting from the motion of a charged particle in the electric field set up by the conductor system of a power transmission line, the paper develops a model for the streamers released when the voltage stress at the surfaces of conductors leads to corona discharges from them.

Continuous corona discharge using nanowires

2014 International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale (3M-NANO), 2014
Continuous corona discharge under hundred volts is realized using ZnO nanowires as anode tips of a micro discharger. ZnO nanowires are synthesized using electric-field-assisted wet chemical method and a thin tungsten film is deposited on them to enhance their conductivities and discharging performances.

Interferometry of the corona discharge

[1991] Proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials, 2002
The authors consider the possibility of applying optical methods of registration of small changes in refractive index to the investigation of processes occurring during corona discharge in gases. The interferometry used makes it possible to determine changes in gas temperature on corona discharge for discharge gaps of ordinary geometry.
