Coronary Artery Aneurysms

Cardiology in Review, 2008
Aneurysmal coronary artery disease is frequently encountered in clinical cardiology practice. Although more commonly associated with atherosclerosis, a variety of other acquired (eg, inflammatory, infectious, iatrogenic) or congenital causes have been identified. Recent research on the pathogenesis of coronary aneurysms has yielded interesting results.

Giant Coronary Artery Aneurysm

Journal of Cardiac Surgery, 2012
A 66-year-old male presented with intermittent leftsided abdominal pain and underwent a CT KUB where an incidental giant coronary aneurysm of the left anterior descending (LAD) artery was discovered along with a smaller right coronary artery aneurysm. Surgery for coronary artery aneurysms was performed on cardiopulmonary bypass with cardioplegic arrest.

Aneurysm of the coronary arteries

American Heart Journal, 1948
Abstract 1. 1. The literature on aneurysm of the coronary arteries is reviewed. 2. 2. It is suggested that aneurysms of the coronary arteries be considered as either localized or diffuse; and that the localized be further classified into four main groups: congenital, mycotic-embolic, syphilitic, and arteriosclerotic.

Coronary artery aneurysm: A review

Progress in Cardiovascular Diseases, 1997
Coronary artery aneurysm is defined as coronary dilatation which exceeds the diameter of normal adjacent segments or the diameter of the patient's largest coronary vessel by 1.5 times. This is an uncommon disease which has been diagnosed with increasing frequency since the advent of coronary angiography.

Aneurysms of the coronary arteries

The American Journal of Surgery, 1943
Abstract The fifty-second case of an aneurysm occurring on the coronary artery is reported. It is suggested that the aneurysms located at the bifurcation of the major branches of the coronary arteries develop as a result of a congenital defect which occurs in the media of the artery.

ANEURYSM OF THE CORONARY ARTERIES

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1929
Although the coronary arteries are so frequently involved in the general diseases of the vascular system, aneurysm is an extreme rarity. In the 116 years that have elapsed since Bougon1(1812) reported the first case, after a careful search of the literature we have been able to collect only thirty-one examples of this condition—and at least two of ...

Gigantic aneurysm of the coronary artery

Arkhiv patologii, 2017
The paper describes a clinical case of gigantic aneurysm of one of the coronary arteries. It considers the morphological and immunohistochemical characteristics of the wall of the blood vessel with the detected signs of coronaritis. The authors have determined that Kawasaki disease could be retrospectively diagnosed in early childhood.

Dissecting Aneurysms of the Coronary Artery

New England Journal of Medicine, 1965
ANEURYSMS of the coronary arteries are decidedly uncommon. They comprise congenital, mycoticembolic, syphilitic, polyarteritis-nodosa, arteriosclerotic and dissecting types. Of these, arteriosclerotic aneurysms and those resulting from polyarteritis nodosa are the most common whereas dissecting aneurysms are very rare.

[Coronary artery aneurysms].

Giornale italiano di cardiologia (2006), 2015
Coronary artery aneurysms are defined as coronary dilations as greater than 1.5 times the largest diameter of the adjacent coronary segment. They are a relatively rare finding on coronary angiography, with prevalence ranging from 0.3% to 5% depending on case series.
