Time trends in survival and readmission following coronary artery bypass grafting in Scotland, 1981-96: retrospective observational study [PDF]
Improvements in coronary revascularisation techniques and an increase in the use of percutaneous interventions1 have led to a rise in the number of coronary artery bypass grafting operations in older patients with more severe cardiac disease and worse ...

This study investigates the impact of nanostructured surface modification on corrosion resistance, HUVEC functions, and platelet interactions of 316L SS for cardiovascular stents. Nanostructured surfaces enhanced HUVEC proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis‐related gene expression while reducing platelet adhesion and hemolysis.

Herein, polymer nanogels with a reporting interface for albumin are synthesized through reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) precipitation polymerization of di(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate and N,N’‐methylenebis(acrylamide) using a poly(2‐methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) macro‐RAFT agent, followed by dansyl ...

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy in a healthy twenty year old [PDF]
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, also known as Transient apical ballooning syndrome, stress-induced cardiomyopathy and broken-heartsyndrome, is a rare non-ischemic cardiomyopathy that presents as an acute coronary syndrome without evidence of obstructive

Artificially Weaved Textile‐like Surface Micromachined Graphene‐Polymer Flexible Bioelectrodes
This study reports on the engineering of microscale textured surfaces of SU‐8/PMMA polymer composites much like a “weft‐warp” pattern to resemble “artificially‐weaved” textiles. These microstructured surfaces enable conformal layering of functional reduced graphene oxide (rGO), all‐in‐all offering favorable features including remarkable self ...

Coronary artery spasm : role in acute myocardial ischaemia [PDF]
Coronary artery spasm is an accepted cause of transient myocardial ischaemia in patients with variant angina. The electrocardiographic abnormality, ST segment elevation, which is a hallmark of this syndrome, resembles that seen experimentally when the ...

Miniaturized Devices for On‐the‐Spot Generation of Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts
An intracorporeal extrusion device is developed for on‐the‐spot generation of vascular grafts with tunable diameters spanning from 1 to 6 mm. The device uses biomimetic polymers and light, to promptly obtaining biocompatible and high‐burst pressure‐resistant grafts.

Magnetic particle spectroscopy and imaging represent promising tools, particularly when combined with manganese‐ferrite nanoparticles as versatile theranostic agents. Adjusting the manganese content allows for simultaneous multi‐color tracer detection and reactive oxygen species sensing via magnetic particle spectroscopy and imaging, creating new ...
