Kounis Syndrome Type 2 due to Ingestion of a Fish Meal: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 4, April 2025.

Papaverine Targets STAT Signaling: A Dual‐Action Therapy Option Against SARS‐CoV‐2

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 97, Issue 4, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Papaverine (PV) has been previously identified as a promising candidate in SARS‐CoV‐2 repurposing screens. In this study, we further investigated both its antiviral and immunomodulatory properties. PV displayed antiviral efficacy against SARS‐CoV‐2 and influenza A viruses H1N1 and H5N1 in single infection as well as in co‐infection.

Endothelin and the ischaemic heart [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Soon after its identification as a powerful vasoconstrictor peptide, endothelin (ET-1) was implicated as a detrimental agent involved in determining the outcome of myocardial ischaemia and reperfusion.

Efficacy and Safety of Sirolimus‐Coated Balloon Angioplasty in De Novo Lesions in Large Coronary Vessels: A Propensity Score‐Matched Study

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 105, Issue 4, Page 861-869, March 1, 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Evidence regarding drug‐coated balloon (DCB)‐only angioplasty in de novo lesions of large vessels is still limited and mainly focused on paclitaxel‐coated balloon. We aimed to analyze the safety and efficacy of sirolimus‐coated balloon (SCB)‐only angioplasty in de novo lesions in large vessels compared to drug‐eluting stent (DES ...

A Case of Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy and Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome Following Methadone Withdrawal

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 3, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy (TTC) and Posterior Reversible Encephalopathy Syndrome (PRES) are rare but reversible complications associated with catecholamine surges during methadone withdrawal. Prompt recognition of these stress‐related syndromes in patients undergoing methadone withdrawal is essential.

Spontaneous coronary vasospasm due to polytrauma

open access: yesTrauma Case Reports, 2019
Coronary vasospasm is characterized by focal or diffuse spasm of an epicardial coronary artery. Definitive diagnosis is usually made with coronary angiography, when resolution of stenosis is observed after administration of intracoronary vasodilators. Coronary vasospasm is rarely a consequence of a blunt force injury to the chest.

Capecitabine induced coronary vasospasm [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Case Reports and Images, 2018
Introduction: Capecitabine is used for malignancies of the breast, stomach, pancreas and hepatobiliary system. Capecitabineinduced cardiotoxicity has been well described. However, there are few studies showing capecitabine induced coronary vasospastic angina. Here, we describe a case of capecitabineinduced coronary vasospasm.
