Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Analysis of Common Causes of Out-of-Specification Results in the Test for Depressor Substances

open access: yesShiyan dongwu yu bijiao yixue
According to General Chapter 1145 of Division IV in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2020 Edition), the test for depressor substances is a common method for drug testing.

Non-Linear Regression Modelling to Estimate the Global Warming Potential of a Newspaper

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
Technological innovations are not enough by themselves to achieve social and environmental sustainability in companies. Sustainable development aims to determine the environmental impact of a product and the hidden price of products and services through ...

The Correlated Jacobi and the Correlated Cauchy–Lorentz Ensembles [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Physics, 2015
We calculate the $k$-point generating function of the correlated Jacobi ensemble using supersymmetric methods. We use the result for complex matrices for $k=1$ to derive a closed-form expression for eigenvalue density. For real matrices we obtain the density in terms of a twofold integral that we evaluate numerically.

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

Nobody Left Outside (NLO) Checklist: Improving access to healthcare for vulnerable and underserved groups

open access: yesInternational Journal of Integrated Care, 2019
Introduction: Many marginalised, vulnerable people in Europe who are most in need of healthcare, such as migrants, sex workers, the homeless, people who inject drugs (PWID), prisoners, or LGTBI people, are amongst the least likely to receive it.

General correlation and partial correlation analysis in finding interactions: with Spearman rank correlation and proportion correlation as correlation measures

open access: yesNetwork Biology, 2015
Between-taxon interactions can be detected by calculating the sampling data of taxon sample type. In present study, Spearman rank correlation and proportion correlation are chosen as the general correlation measures, and their partial correlations are calculated and compared. The results show that for Spearman rank correlation measure, in all predicted

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...

Correlations and Hyper-Correlations

open access: yesJournal of Modern Physics, 2011
Recent developments in quantum information allow for a new understanding of quantum correlations. The aim of this paper is to physically explain why quantum mechanics obeys a stronger bond than the non-sig- naling requirement or alternatively why it obeys a principle of information causality.

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...
