Novel Hybrid Optical Correlator: Theory and Optical Simulation
Applied Optics, 1975The inverse transform of the product of two Fourier transform holograms is analyzed and shown to contain the correlation of the two images from which the holograms were formed. The theory, analysis, and initial experimental demonstration of the feasibility of a novel correlation scheme using this multiplied Fourier transform hologram system are ...

Optical Correlation of Fresnel Images
Applied Optics, 1968A real-time optical correlator is described that uses an ultrasonic light modulator (ULM) in conjunction with an amplitude mask or replica of the signal to achieve linear, phase-coherent detection, without need for high quality optics. When the mask is placed in a Fresnel image plane of the ULM, optimum correlation and collinear heterodyning are ...

1984
Having prepared the basic quantum formalism we can start a quantum-mechanical treatment of correlation and coherence phenomena in the electromagnetic field, and show relations between various kinds of experiments and the corresponding quantum correlation functions. We consider the detection of a field using the interaction of this field with matter. If

A Simplified Coherent Optical Correlator
Applied Optics, 1968The basic theory plus a few nonreal time experimental results of a coherent optical analog correlator consisting of only a ngle transforming lens are given. The two spatial signals to be correlated were written on two side-by-side photographic transparencies (an ultrasonic light modulator may be employed for real time operation).

Optical Correlation Methods in Epigraphy
1997An overview of the recognition problem and the possible approaches for solution in epigraphy is given. Examples on the averaging of patterns, feature extraction, and the system configuration design are given to demonstrate the main issues.
