Correlated Accidents [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2016
This paper investigates cases in which harms are statistically correlated. When parties are risk averse, correlation plays an important role in the choice between liability rules. Specifically, positively correlated harms favor a liability rule that spreads the risk over a multitude of parties, as in the negligence rule.

Sub-1 K Adiabatic Demagnetization Refrigeration with Rare-Earth Borates Ba3XB9O18 and Ba3XB3O9, X = (Yb, Gd)

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Adiabatic demagnetization refrigeration (ADR) is regaining relevance for refrigeration to temperatures below 1 K as global helium-3 supply is increasingly strained.

Nearest-neighbour resonating valence bonds in YbMgGaO4

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
The signature of short range resonating valence bonds (RVB) to understand quantum spin liquids is yet to be explored. Here, Liet al. observe the putative RVB correlations restricted to nearest neighbours in YbMgGaO4, responsible for the high-energy spin ...

Application of statistical methods for evaluation of local Phaseolus vulgaris L. experimental data [PDF]

open access: yesAgroznanje, 2013
Beans are a traditional crop grown almost anywhere in the country. The local forms are well adapted to specific agro-climatic conditions in the growing areas and are an interesting initial material for selection programs.

Comparison of the blood parameters with the chemical composition of the muscle tissue of meat-and-egg chicken

open access: yesТеория и практика переработки мяса, 2023
Basic blood and muscle tissue parameters have been analyzed in crossbred male Russian White and Cornish hens (♂, RW x CORN, n=95, slaughtered at 63 days of age). According to BW at slaughter, males (n=95) were divided into 3 groups (group 1–1,000–1,799 g,

Bounding temporal quantum correlations

open access: yes, 2013
Sequential measurements on a single particle play an important role in fundamental tests of quantum mechanics. We provide a general method to analyze temporal quantum correlations, which allows us to compute the maximal correlations for sequential ...

Sirolimus for Extracranial Arteriovenous Malformations: A Scoping Review of the Evidence in Syndromic and Non‐Syndromic Cases

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are rare, high‐flow, vascular anomalies that can occur either sporadically or as part of a genetic syndrome. AVMs can progress with serious morbidity and even mortality if left unchecked. Sirolimus is an mTOR inhibitor that is effective in low‐flow vascular malformations; however, its role in AVMs is unclear.

Correlation between quantitative traits and grain productivity of the waxy maize hybrids

open access: yesЗерновое хозяйство России, 2023
A subspecies of waxy maize (Zea mays L. ceratina) is characterized by the fact that its grain contains 100 % amylopectin starch, a valuable raw material for confectionery production, the manufacture of polymers, and a blood substitute.

Correlation? What Correlation?

open access: yesActa Physica Polonica A, 1994
In a series of papers [1-5] we have explored the response of a one-electron atom to intense short-pulse laser fields in a reduced-dimension atom model. This 1D "atom" appears to be reasonably realistic, at least in the presence of powerful linearly polarized laser light that induces the single electron to oscillate along the polarization axis.

Evaluating the Utility of Paired Tumor and Germline Targeted DNA Sequencing for Pediatric Oncology Patients: A Single Institution Report

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To evaluate the diagnostic yield and utility of universal paired tumor–normal multigene panel sequencing in newly diagnosed pediatric solid and central nervous system (CNS) tumor patients and to compare the detection of germline pathogenic/likely pathogenic variants (PV/LPVs) against established clinical referral criteria for cancer ...
