Caught in the fire: An accidental ethnography of discomfort in researching sex work

open access: yesFeminist Anthropology, EarlyView.
Abstract Drawing on fifteen years of engagement with researching Israel's sex industry, this article uses accidental ethnography to propose discomfort‐as‐method for feminist anthropology. I argue that discomfort is not a by‐product of fieldwork but a constitutive condition that disciplines researchers and shapes what can be known.

Brittle extension of the continental crust along a rooted system of low-angle normal faults: Colorado River extensional corridor [PDF]

open access: yes
A transect across the 100 km wide Colorado River extensional corridor of mid-Tertiary age shows that the upper 10 to 15 km of crystalline crust extended along an imbricate system of brittle low-angle normal faults. The faults cut gently down a section in

Monitoring animal movement diversity as a component of biodiversity

open access: yesFrontiers in Ecology and the Environment, EarlyView.
Animal movement is increasingly being quantified in novel ways, with high potential for integration into broad‐scale efforts to monitor biological diversity. Here, we define movement diversity as a form of biodiversity, measuring variation in animal movement from the level of individual animals to communities. We present a framework to develop a common

Optimal Monetary Policy in a Channel System of Interest-Rate Control [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper studies optimal interest-rate policies when the central bank operates a channel system of interest-rate control. We conduct our analysis in a dynamic general equilibrium model with infinitely-lived agents who are subject to idiosyncratic ...

Recent advances in multifunctional soft robots: A materials–structures–systems co‐design perspective for synergistic integration

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
Abstract Soft robots, engineered from highly compliant materials, offer superior adaptability and safety in unstructured environments compared to their rigid counterparts. Recent advancements, fueled by bio‐inspiration and material programmability, have led to the rapid co‐evolution of their core modules: actuation, sensing, protection, energy, and ...

Corridor implied volatility and the variance risk premium in the Italian market [PDF]

open access: yes
Corridor implied volatility introduced in Carr and Madan (1998) and recently implemented in Andersen and Bondarenko (2007) is obtained from model-free implied volatility by truncating the integration domain between two barriers.

The Role of Price‐Volatility Cojumps in Volatility Forecasting

open access: yesJournal of Futures Markets, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper investigates whether simultaneous jumps in prices and volatility improve volatility forecasting. Using up‐to‐date high‐frequency S&P 500 and VIX data, we identify price‐volatility cojumps at the intraday granularity and construct upside, downside, and asymmetric measures.

Multifactorial Screening for Fine‐Scale Selection of CCS Industrial Clusters and Hubs in Brazil

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As Brazil moves toward implementing its decarbonization commitments, carbon capture and storage (CCS) hubs are emerging as a key pathway for large‐scale CO2 abatement in hard‐to‐abate sectors. This paper presents a multifactorial, data‐driven framework to screen and prioritize potential CCS industrial clusters and hubs across Brazilian regions,

Geochemical and Geological Investigation of Skarn‐Type Pb–Zn Mineralization in Hastanetepe (Balya‐Balıkesir, Türkiye): An Approach Based on Fluid Inclusions, Sulphur Isotopes and Geochemical Data

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Integrated petrographic, mineralogical and geochemical data from the Hastanetepe Pb–Zn deposit (Balya, Türkiye) reveal multi‐stage hydrothermal alteration and a magmatic sulphur source. Fluid inclusion and sulphur isotope results indicate a complex fluid evolution responsible for skarn‐type Pb–Zn mineralization along limestone–dacite contacts ...
