Corrosion-Erosion of a Carbon Steel Choke Body

2019
Abstract A wall section of a carbon steel choke body in gas service at 4400 psig blew out three months after the use of a corrosion inhibitor was stopped. Corrosion damage occurred in ripples, leaving both smoothly polished and unattacked areas. The corrodent in condensate wells was principally carbon dioxide dissolved in water condensed

Corrosion–erosion test of SS316 in flowing Pb–Bi

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2003
Abstract Corrosion tests of austenitic stainless tube were done under flowing Pb–Bi conditions for 3000 h at 450 °C. Specimens were 316SS produced as a tubing form with 13.8 mm outer diameter, 2 mm thickness and 40 cm length. During operation, maximum temperature, temperature difference and flow velocity of Pb–Bi at the specimen were kept at 450, 50 °

Corrosive-Erosive Wear Studies of Al6061/Albite Composites

Materials Science Forum, 2007
This investigation analyses the influence of dispersed alumina particles on the wear behaviour of the Al/albite composites in a corrosive environment. The composites were prepared by modified pressure die-casting technique. The corrosiveerosive wear experiments were carried out on a proprietary corrosion-erosion wear tester to study the wear ...

Corrosive-Erosive Wear of Grinding Ball Metals at High Jet Velocities

Corrosion, 1986
Erosive/corrosive wear of two types of grinding ball metal alloys was studied using an electrochemically instrumented jet slurry apparatus. Quartz particles of –100 to + 200 mesh and less than 200 mesh were used in the jet slurries under varying pH conditions, jet velocity, and temperature under either oxygen or nitrogen aeration.

Study of corrosive–erosive wear behaviour of Al6061/albite composites

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2006
Abstract This investigation analyses the influence of dispersed alumina particles on the wear behaviour of the Al/albite composites in a corrosive environment. The composites were prepared by modified pressure die-casting technique. The corrosive–erosive wear experiments were carried out on a proprietary corrosion–erosion wear tester to study the ...

Corrosive erosion: mounting threats to Japan's constitutional Utopia

Foresight, 2004
From a forced renunciation in 1946 of war as a tool of international relations, Japan progressed during the next 58 years – first pushed by a former enemy, then entrained by world events and a renewed emergence of nationalism at home – to de facto repudiation of a position of studied neutrality.

Corrosion-erosion tests of fusion reactor materials in flowing nanofluids

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 2017
Abstract The rotating experimental devices are designed to investigate the compatibility of fusion reactor materials with Al2O3-water nanofluids. The specimens are exposed to different nanofluids with relative flow speed from 1.00 m/s to 3.25 m/s at 70 °C for 1224 h and 2136 h. The analysis of surface morphology and component is performed through SEM,

Corrosion-Erosion Behavior of Materials in a Coal-Gasification Environment

Corrosion, 1976
Materials considered for application in the high temperature gaseous environments that are present in various coal-gasification processes must be resistant to corrosive and erosive wear. Possible interactions between the materials and the gaseous environment that lead to oxidation, hot corrosion, sulfidation, carburization, and metal dusting are ...

Corrosion, erosion-corrosion, and the flexural strength of WC-Co hardmetals

Journal of Materials Science, 1991
The corrosion of commercial hardmetals containing 6, 8 and 10% Co with small additions of Cr3C2 and VC, in solutions of pH 1, 3, 5 and 10, and in a cutting fluid of pH 8.6, has been investigated using weight loss, atomic absorption spectroscopy, and metallographic techniques.
