The Mechanism of Corrosion–Erosion in Steam Extraction Lines of Power Stations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power, 1988
Corrosion-erosion occurs in steam extraction piping made of low carbon steel that conveys wet steam. The rate of metal removal peaks at 150°C and is most severe on the inside and outside of bends and in the vicinity of fittings. A theory is presented by which three processes are shown to give rise to the observed peak in the metal removal rate: (1) the

Thermoresponsive Soft and Self‐Anchoring Cuff Electrode for Chronic Peripheral Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel thermoresponsive, soft and self‐anchoring (TSSA) cuff electrode utilizing shape memory polymers achieves autonomous, sutureless peripheral nerve fixation. Driven by thermally induced pre‐strain and tissue adhesion, the device self‐closes and softens at body temperature, successfully minimizing mechanical mismatch. This adaptive platform ensures

A map and a pipe : a new approach to characterizing erosion-corrosion regimes of Fe in three dimensions using CFD modelling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In studies of erosion-corrosion, much work has been carried out in recent years to identify regimes of behaviour. Such regimes describe the transition between the erosion and corrosion dominated mechanisms.

The significance of velocity exponents in identifying erosion-corrosion mechanisms [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The modes of erosion-corrosion are diverse and may vary from being ''erosion-dominated'', where erosion of metal is the dominant process, to ''corrosion-dominated'', where erosion of oxide scale is the dominant process.

CFD modelling of erosion-corrosion of steel in aqueous environments : particle concentration effects on the regime boundaries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this study, a new methodology is used to model the effects of particle concentration on the inner surfaces of a circular pipe 90º bend, assuming applied potential controlled aqueous slurry flow at room temperature.
