Graphene: Corrosion-Inhibiting Coating

ACS Nano, 2012
We report the use of atomically thin layers of graphene as a protective coating that inhibits corrosion of underlying metals. Here, we employ electrochemical methods to study the corrosion inhibition of copper and nickel by either growing graphene on these metals, or by mechanically transferring multilayer graphene onto them.

Fundamentals of Corrosion and Corrosion Inhibition

2022
Corrosion is a highly challenging and damaging phenomenon that causes the loss of metallic structures via chemical and electrochemical reactions with the constituents of their surroundings. In view of extremely high safety and economic losses, corrosion and corrosion prevention have attracted significant attention.

CORROSION-INHIBITIVE PAINTS

Metallurgical Reviews, 1964
AbstractEveryone is aware of “the punishment of rust” and figures running into hundreds of millions of pounds1-4 have been quoted for its material effect on the budgets of many countries. These have left aside the losses, plain to the eye but not subject to assessment in pounds, shillings, and pence, which are mainly aesthetic, for certainly rusting ...

Corrosion and corrosion inhibition in the petroleum industry

Materials and Corrosion, 1982
AbstractThis lecture reviews some representative types of aqueous corrosion problems encountered in the various facets of the petroleum industry. The fundamental processes underlying these corrosion problems are examined. In addition, commonly used methods for corrosion prevention and control which rely on modification of the corrosive environment or ...

Corrosion Inhibition in the Presence of Microbial Corrosion

CORROSION 1996, 1996
Abstract Microorganisms influence corrosion by changing the electrochemical conditions at the metal/solution interface. These changes may have different effects, ranging from the induction of localized corrosion to corrosion inhibition. The key to the alteration of conditions at a metal surface and hence, the enhancement or inhibition of
