AC corrosion. Part 2: Parameters influencing corrosion rate
Corrosion Science, 2010Abstract Pipelines and AC power transmission lines frequently share corridors leading to AC interference corrosion problems, as documented by pipeline failures that have occurred in the USA, Canada and Europe, even when cathodic protection is applied. In order to investigate these phenomena, weight loss tests on carbon steel samples were performed in

AC Corrosion: Corrosion Rate and Mitigation Requirements
CORROSION 2004, 2004Abstract Despite the existing body of research data and some empirical evidence apparently implicating AC currents as deleterious to the buried pipelines, there remained a need to further investigate the issue, especially the conditions at which AC currents may pose a threat to underground structures and cathodic protection requirements ...

Instantaneous corrosion rate measurement
Corrosion Science, 1977Abstract A study of the limitations of the transient technique for measuring corrosion rates was made. For this purpose a galvanostat was built with an incorporated interrupter mechanism. The constant current was interrupted at a preselected frequency and the resulting discharge and charging curves of voltage against time displayed on an oscilloscope.

Corrosion rate measurements in vivo
Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1967AbstractCorrosion resistance is particularly important in medical treatments requiring implantation of metallic objects in the human body. Unfortunately, weight loss measurements and other conventional corrosion testing techniques are insufficiently sensitive and difficult to adapt to in vivo environments.

Aluminium corrosion studies. II. Corrosion rates in water
Australian Journal of Chemistry, 1977The corrosion rate of aluminium in flowing neutral waters at 50°C has been determined as a function of pH, oxygen concentration and chloride concentration. The corrosion rate, At, as total aluminium lost between the 4th and 80th day was observed to be logarithmic according to At = B log t+C with a minimum rate in the pH range 5-6, and with B c.

Adsorption characteristics of corrosion inhibitors from corrosion rate measurements
Corrosion Science, 2004Corrosion rate data have been used for the determination of the adsorption parameters of the Frumkin isotherm in the system steel/acid solution/inhibitor. The inhibitors are derivatives of benzimidazole. The maximal amount of adsorbed inhibitor, the interaction parameter a and the equilibrium constant B of the isotherm are found simultaneously by using

Predictive Modeling for Corrosion Rate on Pipeline Corrosion in Seawater
Day 1 Mon, October 02, 2023, 2023ABSTRACT Marine oil pipelines are critical for the transportation of oil and gas from offshore production facilities to onshore processing plants. However, exposure to seawater, salt, and other environmental factors can cause corrosion in these pipelines, which can lead to costly and dangerous leaks and spills.

Changes in corrosion rates in atmospheres with changing corrosivity
Corrosion Engineering, Science and Technology, 2009AbstractThis paper presents a study on the atmospheric corrosion of carbon steels, zinc, copper and aluminium in the industrial atmosphere. Trends representative for Central Europe are evaluated on the results for the Czech test site Kopisty. The climatic data and levels of pollutants, namely SO2, have been measured, collected and analysed over 25 ...

Influence of Corrosion Inhibitor on Marine Concrete Corrosion Rate
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Corrosion inhibitor have a significant influence on corrosion rate of marine concrete. In this paper, linear polarization method is used in reinforced concrete that under marine environment, and reinforced concrete is mixed with corrosion inhibitor. The results show that: corrosion inhibitor has a little influence on the basic mechanical properties of ...
