Corrosion and Corrosion Resistance

2021
The chapter starts with a brief introduction about corrosion, which is defined as the interdependency between a metal, a corrosive environment, and the respective component design. The second section introduces the most important forms of aqueous electrochemical corrosion (uniform corrosion, galvanic corrosion, selective and intergranular corrosion ...

Corrosion resistance of nanostructured titanium

Biomolecular Engineering, 2007
The present work reports results of studies of corrosion resistance of pure nano-Ti-Grade 2 after hydrostatic extrusion. The grain size of the examined samples was below 90 nm. Surface analytical technique including AES combined with Ar(+) ion sputtering, were used to investigate the chemical composition and thicknesses of the oxides formed on nano-Ti.

Corrosion-Resistant Zeolite Coatings

Corrosion, 2008
As a promising, environmentally friendly alternative for the toxic and carcinogenic chromate conversion surface finishing, zeolite coatings on various metal alloys have shown excellent corrosion resistance, strong adhesion to substrates, and extraordinary thermal and mechanical properties. This review summarizes recent technological advances of zeolite

Corrosion resistant concrete using corrosion resistant steel

2013
Corrosion of reinforced concrete is a major concern in the United States infrastructure. It is possible to create corrosion resistant concrete structures through careful evaluation of the environmental and mechanical demands on the structure and by selecting appropriate materials to meet those demands.

Corrosion resistance of iron–platinum magnets

Journal of Dentistry, 2004
The objective of this study was to investigate the corrosion resistance of the prototype iron-platinum (FePt) magnets and non-encapsulated neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) magnets in three different pH environments. The corrosion resistance of the magnets was studied using a corrosion indicator, the breakaway force. The breakaway forces of the magnets after

Corrosion Resistance

2000
Abstract Titanium and its alloys are used chiefly for their high strength-to-weight ratio, but they also have excellent corrosion resistance, better even than stainless steels. Titanium, as the chapter explains, is protected by a tenacious oxide film that forms rapidly on exposed surfaces. The chapter discusses the factors that influence
