Targeted Therapy for Gut Microbiota: Candidates for a Novel Strategy to Ameliorate Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 12, December 2025.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) poses a significant threat to public health and is linked to the gut microbiota. Probiotics, prebiotics, and synbiotics, together with fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), can restore the gut microbiota in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients.

First Metataxonomic Characterisation of Gut Microbiota of Swordfish (Xiphias gladius)

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 6, December 2025.
This is the first metataxonomic characterisation of gut microbiota of swordfish using next‐generation sequencing. Findings show significant differences in the alpha diversity among the weight categories and the FAO fishing areas. The phylum Pseudomonadota dominated the swordfish gut microbiota, followed by Fusobacteriota. Photobacterium resulted in the

Changes in Environmental Conditions Differentially Affect the Bacterial Microbiome Communities in Different Apple Fruit Tissues

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 6, December 2025.
This study investigates the bacterial communities in ‘Honeycrisp’ apples in Atlantic Canada, highlighting how weather, and farming practices shape these communities in different fruit tissues. Weather impacts core and peel tissues bacteria differently across growing seasons, identifies key microbes in microbial interaction networks, and provides ...

Microbial and Metabolic Disorders in Cervical Cancer: Structural Insights, Biomarkers, Mechanisms, and Therapeutic Strategies

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 116, Issue 12, Page 3228-3238, December 2025.
We unravel synergistic mechanisms by which microbial‐host metabolic networks regulate the tumor immune microenvironment and therapy resistance, bridging gaps between microbiota research and cancer metabolism. Identified biomarkers (e.g., Lactobacillus, C8‐ceramide‐1‐phosphate) and therapeutic approaches (e.g., FMT combined with immune checkpoint ...
