Corynebacterium amycolatum: An Unexpected Pathogen in the Ear [PDF]
Non-diphtheritic Corynebacteria are now being increasingly recognised as the causative agents of various infections. Among these organisms, Corynebacterium amycolatum is the most frequently isolated one.

PEARL: Protein Eluting Alginate with Recombinant Lactobacilli
Probiotic lactobacilli meet engineered living materials: This study introduces PEARL (protein eluting alginate with recombinant lactobacilli), an innovative engineered living material combining Lactiplantibacillus plantarum and alginate beads for controlled protein release.

Granulomatous Mastitis with Corynebacterium Infection
Background: Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) is a rare relapsing benign, chronic inflammatory breast disease characterized by infiltration of inflammatory cells including multinucleated giant cells. Recently, it has been suggested that infection with Corynebacterium species (spp.) may be involved in the onset of the disease.

Genomic analyses reveal two distinct lineages of Corynebacterium ulcerans strains [PDF]
Corynebacterium ulcerans is an important zoonotic pathogen which is causing diphtheria-like disease in humans, globally. In this study, the genomes of three recently isolated C.

The alpha and beta diversity of the nasal microbiome differed among children with allergic rhinitis (AR), nonallergic rhinitis (NAR), and healthy controls (HCs). Compared to HC, AR had more Escherichia‐Shigella, Negativicoccus, and Campylobacter, while NAR had more Dolosigranulum and fewer Enterobacteriaceae.

Comparative genomic analyses reveal a lack of a substantial signature of host adaptation in Rhodococcus equi (‘Prescottella equi’) [PDF]
Rhodococcus equi (‘Prescottella equi’) is a pathogenic actinomycete primarily infecting horses but has emerged as an opportunistic human pathogen. We have sequenced the genome of the type strain of this species, R.

In this two‐phase study, school‐aged children were classified as at risk or no‐risk based on severe attacks during one‐year follow‐up. Four types of prediction models were developed. Salivary bacteria and serum inflammatory markers, while informative alone, complement past asthma attacks in predicting future attack risk.

Obesity Impairs Skin Barrier Function and Facilitates Allergic Sensitization in Mice
Diet‐induced obesity increases transepidermal water loss and compromises barrier function through downregulation of tight junctions and desmosomes. During obesity, MC903 elicits a mixed Th1/2/17 immune response in the skin leading to aggravated ear swelling.
