Cosmic strings and inflation [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1987
Abstract We examine the compatibility of inflation with the cosmic string theory for galaxy formation. There is a general conflict between having sufficient string tension to effect galaxy formation, and reheating after inflation to a high enough temperature that strings may form in a thermal phase transition.

Hillclimbing inflation in metric and Palatini formulations

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
A new setup of cosmic inflation with a periodic inflaton potential and conformal factor is discussed in the metric and Palatini formulations of gravity.

Cosmic Inflation, Quantum Information and the Pioneering Role of John S Bell in Cosmology

open access: yesUniverse, 2019
According to the theory of cosmic inflation, the large scale structures observed in our Universe (galaxies, clusters of galaxies, Cosmic Background Microwave—CMB—anisotropy…) are of quantum mechanical origin. They are nothing but vacuum

Holography of Little Inflation

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2015
For several crucial microseconds of its early history, the Universe consisted of a Quark–Gluon Plasma. As it cooled during this era, it traced out a trajectory in the quark matter phase diagram.

Stable small spatial hairs in a power-law k-inflation model

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2021
In this paper, we extend our investigation of the validity of the cosmic no-hair conjecture within non-canonical anisotropic inflation. As a result, we are able to figure out an exact Bianchi type I solution to a power-law k-inflation model in the ...

Anisotropic inflation in dipolar Bose–Einstein condensates

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2023
Early during the era of cosmic inflation, rotational invariance may have been broken, only later emerging as a feature of low-energy physics. This motivates ongoing searches for residual signatures of anisotropic space-time, for example in the power ...

Transplanckian censorship and global cosmic strings

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2017
Large field excursions are required in a number of axion models of inflation. These models also possess global cosmic strings, around which the axion follows a path mirroring the inflationary trajectory. Cosmic strings are thus an interesting theoretical

Probing the BSM physics with CMB precision cosmology: an application to supersymmetry

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
The cosmic history before the BBN is highly determined by the physics that operates beyond the Standard Model (BSM) of particle physics and it is poorly constrained observationally.

Modulus D-term inflation

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
We propose a new model of single-field D-term inflation in supergravity, where the inflation is driven by a single modulus field which transforms non-linearly under the U(1) gauge symmetry.
