Observations of the Cosmic Microwave Background [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Physics B - Proceedings Supplements, 1994
The properties of the cosmic microwave background radiation provide unique constraints on cosmological models, i.e. on the content, history, and evolution of the Universe. I discuss the latest measurements of the spectral and spatial properties of the cosmic microwave background radiation.

The CMBR Spectrum [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1997
A short review of the measured spectrum of the Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation (CMBR) and implications. Extensions of the Kompaneets equation and Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect are given.

Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation Anisotropy Induced by Cosmic Strings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1994
We report on a current investigation of the anisotropy pattern induced by cosmic strings on the cosmic microwave background radiation (MBR). We have numerically evolved a network of cosmic strings from a redshift of $Z = 100$ to the present and calculated the anisotropies which they induce.

Cosmic Inflation and Genetic Algorithms

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 71, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Large classes of standard single‐field slow‐roll inflationary models consistent with the required number of e‐folds, the current bounds on the spectral index of scalar perturbations, the tensor‐to‐scalar ratio, and the scale of inflation can be efficiently constructed using genetic algorithms.

Balloon-borne Cosmic Microwave Background experiments [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
Stratospheric balloon experiments play a unique role in current Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) studies. CMB research has entered a precision phase, harvesting the detailed properties of its anisotropy, polarization and spectrum, at incredible ...

Fast emulation of anisotropies induced in the cosmic microwave background by cosmic strings

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics, 2023
Cosmic strings are linear topological defects that may have been produced during symmetry-breaking phase transitions in the very early Universe. In an expanding Universe the existence of causally separate regions prevents such symmetries from being ...

Microwaves Are Everywhere “CMB: Hiding in Plain Sight”

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Microwaves, 2021
This article is the first in a continuing series of general interest papers on the applications of microwaves in areas of science and technology that might not be evident to the casual observer.

The Boltzmann equation and Cosmic Microwave Background

open access: yesRevista de Investigación de Física, 2023
Observations on the anisotropies of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) have become a fundamental tool in Cosmology. We present a brief description of the mformalism necessary to understand the evolution of the anisotropies, and how their power ...

Anisotropies of the cosmic microwave background [PDF]

open access: yesLa Rivista del Nuovo Cimento, 2002
We review the present status of Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropy observations and discuss the main related astrophysical issues, instrumental effects and data analysis techniques. We summarise the balloon-borne and ground-based experiments that, after COBE-DMR, yielded detection or significant upper limits to CMB fluctuations.

Frequency–Redshift Relation of the Cosmic Microwave Background

open access: yesAstronomy, 2023
We point out that a modified temperature–redshift relation (T-z relation) of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) cannot be deduced by any observational method that appeals to an a priori thermalisation to the CMB temperature T of the excited states in ...
