Effect of Peculiar Motion in Weak Lensing
We study the effect of peculiar motion in weak gravitational lensing. We derive a fully relativistic formula for the cosmic shear and the convergence in a perturbed Friedmann Universe.

Language machines: Toward a linguistic anthropology of large language models
Abstract Large language models (LLMs) challenge long‐standing assumptions in linguistics and linguistic anthropology by generating human‐like language without relying on rule‐based structures. This introduction to the special issue Language Machines calls for renewed engagement with LLMs as socially embedded language technologies.

Evaluating Seismic Ambient Noise Techniques for Imaging Lava Tubes on the Moon
Abstract Detecting and characterizing lava tubes is a key objective of upcoming lunar missions. While evidence for their presence exists, their precise dimensions and depths remain uncertain. This study evaluates the potential of seismic ambient noise methods, such as seismic interferometry, H/V spectral ratios, distributed acoustic sensing (DAS), and ...

Cosmic shear analysis with CFHTLS deep data [PDF]
We present the first cosmic shear measurements obtained from the T0001 release of the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Legacy Survey. The data set covers three uncorrelated patches (D1, D3 and D4) of one square degree each observed in u*, g', r', i' and z' bands, out to i'=25.5.

The non-Gaussianity of the cosmic shear likelihood - or: How odd is the Chandra Deep Field South?
(abridged) We study the validity of the approximation of a Gaussian cosmic shear likelihood. We estimate the true likelihood for a fiducial cosmological model from a large set of ray-tracing simulations and investigate the impact of non-Gaussianity on ...

Abstract Storm‐time equatorial plasma bubble (EPB) dynamics play a critical role in space weather impacts on communication and navigation systems, yet the mechanisms governing their formation and evolution under storm conditions remain poorly understood.

Magnification as a Tool in Weak Lensing
Weak lensing surveys exploit measurements of galaxy ellipticities. These measurements are subject to errors which degrade the cosmological information that can be extracted from the surveys.

Genomic and Ecological Flexibility Shape the Global Distribution of a Black Fungus
Graphical abstract illustrating the integration of ecological and genomic data to explain the global adaptation of the black fungus Elasticomyces elasticus. ABSTRACT Black fungi are among the most stress‐resistant organisms known, yet the genetic and ecological foundations of their extraordinary resilience remain poorly understood.
