The Vainshtein mechanism in the cosmic web [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2014
We investigate the dependence of the Vainshtein screening mechanism on the cosmic web morphology of both dark matter particles and halos as determined by ORIGAMI. Unlike chameleon and symmetron screening, which come into effect in regions of high density, Vainshtein screening instead depends on the dimensionality of the system, and screened bodies can ...

Cosmic-Ray Acceleration and Magnetic Fields in Galaxy Clusters and Beyond: Insights from Radio Observations

open access: yesUniverse, 2023
The discovery of diffuse radio emission in galaxy clusters proved the existence of energetic cosmic-ray electrons and cosmic magnetic fields on Mpc-scales in the Universe.

The sticky geometry of the cosmic web [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the twenty-eighth annual symposium on Computational geometry, 2012
This abstract accompanies a video publication to the Symposium on Computational Geometry 2012 (SoCG'12, Chapel Hill, NC, USA), which has been accepted following a process of peer-review and corresponding revision. The video publication may be viewed on [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wI12X2zczqI] The presented material is part of a more extensive ...

Magnetogenesis and the Cosmic Web: A Joint Challenge for Radio Observations and Numerical Simulations

open access: yesGalaxies, 2021
The detection of the radio signal from filaments in the cosmic web is crucial to distinguish possible magnetogenesis scenarios. We review the status of the different attempts to detect the cosmic web at radio wavelengths.

Galaxy Quenching from Cosmic Web Detachment

open access: yesThe Open Journal of Astrophysics, 2019
We propose the Cosmic Web Detachment (CWD) model, a framework to interpret the star-formation history of galaxies in a cosmological context. The CWD model unifies several starvation mechanisms known to disrupt or stop star formation into one single ...

The cosmic spiderweb: equivalence of cosmic, architectural and origami tessellations [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2018
For over 20 years, the term ‘cosmic web’ has guided our understanding of the large-scale arrangement of matter in the cosmos, accurately evoking the concept of a network of galaxies linked by filaments.

Caustic Skeleton & Cosmic Web [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, 2018
We present a general formalism for identifying the caustic structure of an evolving mass distribution in an arbitrary dimensional space. For the class of Hamiltonian fluids the identification corresponds to the classification of singularities in Lagrangian catastrophe theory.

Alignment of voids in the cosmic web [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2008
We investigate the shapes and mutual alignment of voids in the large scale matter distribution of a LCDM cosmology simulation. The voids are identified using the novel WVF void finder technique. The identified voids are quite nonspherical and slightly prolate, with axis ratios in the order of c:b:a approx. 0.5:0.7:1.
