Moderate Thermal Conductivity of Fe‐Ni‐Si Alloy at Earth's Core Conditions: Implications for Core Thermal Evolution and Geodynamo

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 21, 16 November 2025.
Abstract Earth's presently‐active magnetic field is thought to be generated by geodynamo via convection of liquid outer core, primarily composed of Fe alloyed with Ni and light elements, for example, Si. Core thermal conductivity critically controls its thermal evolution, dynamics, and available energy (thermal vs. compositional) powering the geodynamo

Protracted Timescales for Nebular Processing of First-formed Solids in the Solar System

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
The calcium–aluminum-rich inclusions (CAIs) from chondritic meteorites are the first solids formed in the solar system. Rim formation around CAIs marks a time period in early solar system history when CAIs existed as free-floating objects and had not yet

Sulfide–metal assemblages on CR2 chondrule rims: Products of nebular fission–sulfidization and parent body oxidation–serpentinization

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 11, Page 2655-2675, November 2025.
Abstract We conducted a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) study of sulfide–metal assemblages (SMAs) in minimally to moderately altered CR2 chondrites. The assemblages occur on chondrule rims and consist of kamacite cores rimmed by pyrrhotite.

Rock Coatings as Evidence for Late Surface Alteration on the Floor of Jezero Crater, Mars

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract During the NASA Perseverance rover's exploration of the Jezero crater floor, coatings were commonly observed on rocks. These features may record past water‐rock‐atmosphere interactions on the crater floor, and understanding their origin is important for constraining the timing of potential water activity and habitability at Jezero.

Unimolecular Chemical Kinetics in the Interstellar Environment: Competition of Infrared Radiation and Collision Activation Mechanisms

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Unimolecular gas phase chemical reactions could be activated by both infrared (IR) radiation and intermolecular collision in the interstellar environment.

Performance of the 3F4M Noblesse–HR Noble Gas Mass Spectrometer for Multicollection Ne‐Ar‐N2 Analyses

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 26, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract The Noblesse–HR noble gas mass spectrometer was designed for multicollection analyses of different sets of noble gas isotopes with a fixed detector array under static conditions. At the Centre de Recherches Pétrographiques et Géochimiques (CRPG, Nancy, France), we developed a novel procedure to measure nitrogen (N2) abundance and isotope ratio

Correlated Molybdenum, Ruthenium, and Barium Isotope Anomalies in Presolar Silicon Carbide Grains

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We have analyzed molybdenum, ruthenium, and barium isotopes simultaneously in 55 individual presolar silicon carbide (SiC) grains from the Murchison CM2 meteorite using the Chicago Instrument for Laser Ionization (or CHILI).

Oued Chebeika 002: A new CI1 meteorite linked to outer solar system bodies

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 60, Issue 7, Page 1441-1479, July 2025.
Abstract CI1 chondrites are rare meteorites with high scientific value. In fact, they are the most chemically primitive meteorites and show evidence of intense parent‐body aqueous alteration. They also share strong similarities with samples from Ryugu and Bennu asteroids returned by the JAXA Hayabusa2 and NASA's OSIRIS‐REx missions.

Reviewing Martian Atmospheric Noble Gas Measurements: From Martian Meteorites to Mars Missions

open access: yesGeosciences, 2020
Martian meteorites are the only samples from Mars available for extensive studies in laboratories on Earth. Among the various unresolved science questions, the question of the Martian atmospheric composition, distribution, and evolution over geological ...
