Quasidilaton: Theory and cosmology

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 2013
General Relativity (GR), with or without matter fields, admits a natural extension to a scale invariant theory that requires a dilaton. Here we show that the recently formulated massive GR, minimally coupled to matter, possesses a new global symmetry related to scaling of the reference coordinates w.r.t. the physical ones.

The Layout and Size of an Early Pre‐Pottery Neolithic B Small Settlement Revealed by Geophysical Prospection at Harbetsuvan Tepesi in Southeastern Anatolia

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In Upper Mesopotamia, the transition from the Pre‐Pottery Neolithic A (PPNA) to Pre‐Pottery Neolithic B (PPNB) period, ca. 10 800–10 600 cal. BP, is marked by a series of changes in chipped stone industries, architectural forms, symbolic objects, regional distribution of settlements and long‐distance exchange networks among others.

Limits on heavy neutral leptons, Z ′ bosons and majorons from high-energy supernova neutrinos

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Light hypothetical particles with masses up to O 100 $$ \mathcal{O}(100) $$ MeV can be produced in the core of supernovae. Their subsequent decays to neutrinos can produce a flux component with higher energies than the standard flux.

Modern cosmology: 100 years of quantum science [PDF]

open access: yesKragujevac Journal of Science
In this article, we contribute to the special issue of the Kragujevac Journal of Science devoted to the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ2025). We discuss several connections between Quantum Theory and Modern Cosmology.

Bouncing Brane Cosmologies from Warped String Compactifications

open access: yes, 2002
We study the cosmology induced on a brane probing a warped throat region in a Calabi-Yau compactification of type IIB string theory. For the case of a BPS D3-brane probing the Klebanov-Strassler warped deformed conifold, the cosmology described by a ...

Opposing consensus science through scholarly practices: The role of claims maintenance

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract This study examines how three US‐based communities who oppose consensus science produce and disseminate scholarly‐like artifacts: pro‐life activists, Young Earth Creationists, and Anthropogenic Climate Crisis skeptics. Prior research shows that industry‐ or church‐backed advocacy campaigns often generate claims supported by these communities ...

Learning the language of QCD jets with transformers

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
Transformers have become the primary architecture for natural language processing. In this study, we explore their use for auto-regressive density estimation in high-energy jet physics, which involves working with a high-dimensional space.

Modified Friedmann cosmologies—Theory and observations

open access: yesAnnals of Physics, 2005
We investigate a class of Cardassian scenarios of the universe evolution in notions of the qualitative theory of dynamical systems. This theory allows us to analyze all solutions for all possible initial conditions on the phase plane. In the Cardassian models we find that big-rip singularities are present as a typical behavior in the future if $n<0$.

Feasibility Study for Application of Digitized Henize Mt. Wilson Michigan Southern Sky Hα$$ \boldsymbol{\alpha} $$ Survey Low‐Dispersive Spectral Plates for Searches for Anomalous and Highly Redshifted Objects

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The goal of this study is to confirm the feasibility of the use of digitized low dispersive MtWilson Michigan Southern Sky Hα$$ \alpha $$ survey astronomical photographic plates for modern astrophysical research. The detection of highly redshifted objects, such as early galaxies and quasars, is fundamental to understanding the universe's ...
