Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories predict survival in trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...

Single-chamber pacemakers: with or without leads? Cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses

open access: yesAnnals of Medicine
Introduction The evolution in pacemaker technologies has led to improvements in size, weight, functionality, and durability, even as the battery and electrode-based structural configuration has remained essentially the same. Objective To compare the cost ...

A cost-utility analysis of psychoanalysis versus psychoanalytic psychotherapy [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Technology Assessment in Health Care, 2010
Objectives:Despite the considerable and growing body of research about the clinical effectiveness of long-term psychoanalytic treatment, relatively little attention has been paid to economic evaluations, particularly with reference to the broader range of societal effects. In this cost-utility study, we examined the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio

Elucidating prognostic significance of purine metabolism in colorectal cancer through integrating data from transcriptomic, immunohistochemical, and single‐cell RNA sequencing analysis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low expression of five purine metabolism‐related genes (ADSL, APRT, ADCY3, NME3, NME6) was correlated with poor survival in colorectal cancer. Immunohistochemistry analysis showed that low NME3 (early stage) and low ADSL/NME6 (late stage) levels were associated with high risk.

Surveillance of cirrhosis for hepatocellular carcinoma: a cost–utility analysis [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Cancer, 2008
Using a decision-analytic model, we evaluated the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of surveillance for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in individuals with cirrhosis. Separate cohorts with cirrhosis due to alcoholic liver disease, hepatitis B and hepatitis C were simulated.

Highly multiplexed digital PCR assay for simultaneous quantification of variant allele frequencies and copy number alterations of KRAS and GNAS in pancreatic cancer precursors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining melting curve analysis enhances the multiplexing capability of digital PCR. Here, we developed a 14‐plex assay to simultaneously measure single nucleotide mutations and amplifications of KRAS and GNAS, which are common driver genes in pancreatic cancer precursors. This assay accurately quantified variant allele frequencies in clinical samples
