Sustainable Operation Mode Choices for Second-Hand Inspection Platforms
The sale of second-hand goods has formed a complete industrial chain, and second-hand product testing is a crucial part of it. Second-hand inspection platforms (SIPs) have achieved remarkable commercial success by providing inspection services that ...

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) for Bridge Inspection Safety
Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) are an excellent tool to remove bridge inspection workers from potential harm. Previous research has documented that UAS for bridge inspection is a strategic priority of a state’s Department of Transportation (DOT), and ...

Ambient environmental monitoring, sequential firm inspections and time-decreasing benefits of inspection [PDF]
We consider an environmental enforcement agency who uses the measurement of ambient pollution to guide its inspections of individual polluters. We compare two different uses of this information.

Robust Spot Melting by 3D Spot Arrangements in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion
This work proposes an approach to replace separately melted contours for spot melting in electron beam powder fusion. Adapting the spot arrangements close to the contour combined with stacking yields a comparable surface quality without the inherent challenges of separate contours, as demonstrated, by electron optical images and roughness measurements.

A study of postponed replacement in a delay time model [PDF]
We develop a delay time model for a one component system with postponed replacement to analyze situations in which maintenance might not be executed immediately upon discovery of a defect in the system.
