Current surgical options and innovation for repairing articular cartilage defects in the femoral head

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Translation, 2020
Total hip arthroplasty is a common surgical technique, yet it has severe complications, such as loosening and repeated revision. Thus, hip-preserving surgical options should be considered first to treat cartilage defects in the femoral head, especially ...

Collagen of human articular and costal cartilage [PDF]

open access: yesArthritis & Rheumatism, 1969
AbstractCollagen comprises approximately 90 per cent of the protein of human articular cartilage. Only about 1 per cent of the total collagen could be extracted by solutions of 5 M guanidine‐HCl from normal cartilage, and the extractability of collagen from fibrillated specimens was not elevated.

A Novel Decellularized Fibrocartilage Graft Promotes Tympanic Membrane Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An off‐the‐shelf decellularized porcine meniscus fibrocartilage graft (MEND) is engineered for pediatric tympanoplasty. Featuring a microchannel architecture that promotes host cell invasion, MEND rapidly closes tympanic membrane perforations and fully remodels in vivo, outperforming fascia and matching cartilage grafts while avoiding donor‐site ...

Coaxially Electrospun Myocardial dECM‐ Based Nanofibrous Scaffolds Demonstrate Enhanced Cardiomyocyte Biocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Our coaxial electrospinning system is capable of incorporating decellularized myocardial extracellular matrix in a core‐sheath configuration, creating nanofibrous scaffolds. These scaffolds, in turn, support the maintenance of functional cardiomyocytes adhered to the surface of these bioactive scaffolds.

Packed for Ossification: High‐Density Bioprinting of hPDC Spheroids in HAMA Toward Endochondral Ossification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Human periosteum‐derived cell spheroids bioprinted at high density within a hyaluronic acid matrix promote fusion and hypertrophic cartilage formation in vitro. Early encapsulation enhances spheroid interaction and matrix maturation, generating scalable cartilage templates intended for endochondral bone regeneration.

Precision carving of costal cartilage graft for contour fill in aesthetic and reconstructive rhinoplasty

open access: yesIndian Journal of Plastic Surgery, 2014
Background: Autogenous costal cartilage is a good option for large volume requirements in rhinoplasty, when septal or conchal cartilages do not suffice. Reluctance to use costal cartilage is due to apprehension of warping. However, warping can be avoided
