Prevention of Mandible Reconstruction Plate Exposure by Costal Cartilage Wrapping
Summary:. After mandibulectomy in cancer surgery, reconstruction is often performed with a reconstruction plate covered with a soft-tissue free flap in patients in poor condition. However, the rate of complications for mandibular reconstruction is higher

Costal cartilage graft in Asian rhinoplasty: surgical techniques

Costal Cartilage Graft to Prevent Drooping after Free Flap Reconstruction of the Lower Lip. [PDF]
Summary: For large lower lip defects, a thin flap combined with a tendon is the standard reconstructive option. However, this method can result in flap ptosis, which occurred in two of our patients. To correct the ptosis, we transplanted costal cartilage

A Cadaveric Analysis of the Ideal Costal Cartilage Graft for Asian Rhinoplasty
Augmentation rhinoplasty of the Asian nose may be effectively accomplished with alloplastic materials. However, certain circumstances mandate the use of autologous grafts (e.g., dorsal augmentation that exceeds 8 mm and patient intolerance of alloplastic implants). Septal and auricular cartilages are inadequate for dorsal augmentation of the Asian nose.

Secondary open structural rhinoplasty with costal cartilage grafts. [PDF]
Abstract Background Cleft lip and palate (CLP) represent one of the most prevalent congenital anomalies of the maxillofacial region, resulting in significant structural deformities that impact nasal function, facial aesthetics, and psychosocial well-being. These anomalies often lead to nasal obstruction and asymmetry.

Repair of sheep articular cartilage defects with a rabbit costal perichondrial graft [PDF]
A xenograft of costal rabbit perichondrium was transplanted to an articular cartilage defect in a sheep knee. After 12 weeks, cartilage was formed with increased calcification of the basal layer and a mean of 74 percent collagen type II. The synovium did not show any infiltration, indicating the absence of any immunologic reaction.
