The role of sodium – glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors in the treatment of different phenotypes of chronic heart failure

open access: yesСучасні медичні технології
The number of patients with chronic heart failure syndrome is steadily increasing worldwide and Ukraine is not an exception. About 50 % of patients with heart failure have preserved ejection fraction of left ventricle.

Research progress on Na+ ⁃ K+ ⁃ 2Cl- cotransporter 1 and its relationship to nervous system diseases

open access: yesChinese Journal of Contemporary Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2021
Na+ ⁃ K+ ⁃ 2Cl- cotransporter 1 (NKCC1) which plays an important role in the dynamic balance of Cl- ions, is one of the cation⁃chloride cotransporter. It is a membrane protein that transferred the mediates Na+ , K+ and Cl- .

Cotransport of water by the Na+-K+-2Clcotransporter NKCC1 in mammalian epithelial cells

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, 2010
Water transport by the Na+-K+-2Cl(-) cotransporter (NKCC1) was studied in confluent cultures of pigmented epithelial (PE) cells from the ciliary body of the fetal human eye. Interdependence among water, Na+ and Cl(-) fluxes mediated by NKCC1 was inferred from changes in cell water volume, monitored by intracellular self-quenching of the fluorescent dye

SGLT2i reduce arrhythmic events in heart failure patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Sodium glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i) represent one of the four pillars of heart failure (HF) pharmacological therapy. Objective The study aims to clarify SGLT2i antiarrhythmic effect on patients with HF with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) in terms of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias (AAs and VAs) reduction ...

Clinical and genetic analysis in a family with familial renal glucosuria: Identification of an N101K mutation in the sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 encoded by a solute carrier family 5 member 2 gene

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, 2020
We report the identification of a mutation in the solute carrier family 5 member 2 (SLC5A2) gene, which encodes sodium–glucose cotransporter 2, in a family with familial renal glucosuria.

Prevalence and prognostic value of different iron deficiency definitions in light chain cardiac amyloidosis patients

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Non‐scaled Venn diagram of iron deficiency (ID) according to various definitions and associated outcomes. The prevalence of iron deficiency was high, irrespective of the definition applied. ID defined by TSAT <20% or serum iron <13 μmol/L, rather than the guideline definition, was associated with worse outcomes.

A minor role of WNK3 in regulating phosphorylation of renal NKCC2 and NCC co-transporters in vivo

open access: yesBiology Open, 2012
Summary Mutations in WNK1 and WNK4 kinase genes have been shown to cause a human hereditary hypertensive disease, pseudohypoaldosteronism type II (PHAII).

Energy Balance After Sodium–Glucose Cotransporter 2 Inhibition

open access: yesDiabetes Care, 2015
OBJECTIVE Sodium–glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors cause substantially less weight loss than expected from the energy excreted via glycosuria. Our aim was to analyze this phenomenon quantitatively. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Eighty-six patients
