Test of Inhibitory Power of Cotton Leaf Extract (Gossypium hirsutum L.) as Anti Bacterial Staphylococcus aureus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of International Public Health, 2023
Utilization of natural ingredients as medicine tends to increase in recent times to replace modern medicines such as cotton leaves. Many plant species have antibacterial properties, including the cotton plant (Gossypium hirsutum L.).

A study of heterosis in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1976
Heterosis (over mid parent) and "useful" heterosis (over commercial variety H14) estimates were obtained from a line x tester analysis of crosses involving thirteen diverse female parents with two locally adapted varieties H14 (local standard) and J34. Marked heterosis was observed for seed cotton yield, boll number and halo length.

Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.)

2014
Cotton continues to be a crop of great economic importance in many developing and some developed countries. Cotton plants expressing the Bt gene to deter some of the major pests have been enthusiastically and widely accepted by the farmers in three of the major producing countries, i.e., China, India, and the USA. Considering the constraints related to

Isolation and characterization of terpene synthases in cotton (Gossypium hirsutum)

Phytochemistry, 2013
Cotton plants accumulate gossypol and related sesquiterpene aldehydes, which function as phytoalexins against pathogens and feeding deterrents to herbivorous insects. However, to date little is known about the biosynthesis of volatile terpenes in this crop.
