Stable Transformation and Expression of GhEXPA8 Fibre Expansin Gene to Improve Fibre Length and Micronaire Value in Cotton

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2015
Cotton fibre is multigenic trait controlled by number of genes. Previous studies suggest that one of these genes may be responsible for switching cotton fibre growth on and off to influence the fibre quality produced from a cotton seed.

Genome-wide identification of the geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase (GGPS) gene family involved in chlorophyll synthesis in cotton

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2023
Background Geranylgeranyl pyrophosphate synthase (GGPS) is a structural enzyme of the terpene biosynthesis pathway that is involved in regulating plant photosynthesis, growth and development, but this gene family has not been systematically studied in ...

Gossypium barbadense and Gossypium hirsutum genomes provide insights into the origin and evolution of allotetraploid cotton [PDF]

open access: yesNature Genetics, 2019

A horizontally acquired pantothenate gene drives vitellogenin's benefit to whitefly symbiosis persistence

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
This diagram illustrates that the horizontally transferred panBC influences the level and localization of vitellogenin (Vg) by facilitating pantothenate production and juvenile hormone (JH) biosynthesis. In turn, Vg shields symbionts by suppressing autophagic degradation in bacteriocytes.

Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Analysis of the Biotin Carboxyl Carrier Subunits of Heteromeric Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase in Gossypium

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Acetyl-CoA carboxylase is an important enzyme, which catalyzes acetyl-CoA’s carboxylation to produce malonyl-CoA and to serve as a committed step for de novo fatty acid biosynthesis in plastids.

Between Gaps and Voids: An Archaeometrical Study of Degraded Fibers in a Sherd From the Cueva dos Chinches Muertas, Siltzul (Raxruha, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala)

open access: yesArchaeometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In 2019, excavations at the Cueva dos Chinches Muertas carried out by the Raxruha Viejo Project uncovered a small ceramic sherd distinguished by a stratified structure composed of multiple layers of textile imprints, both superficial and transversal.

Flagellin C decreases the expression of the Gossypium hirsutum cation/proton exchanger 3 gene to promote calcium ion, hydrogen peroxide, and nitric oxide and synergistically regulate the resistance of cotton to Verticillium wilt

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
To date, no ideal effective method for controlling Verticillium wilt in upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum) has been defined. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects and mechanism through which flagellin C (FLiC) regulates the Gossypium ...

The Plant‐Associated Fungus Chaetomium globosum Can Directly Infect and Kill Aphids

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Plant‐associated Chaetomium globosum strains caused direct infection and mortality in cotton aphids (Aphis gossypii) under different concentration‐dependent pathogenicity bioassays. Reinfection, aphid mortality, fungal re‐isolation, and molecular identification confirmed fulfillment of Koch's postulates for insect pathogenicity. These findings revealed
