Unraveling the puzzle of the origin and evolution of cotton A-genome
Gossypium hirsutum, the most widely planted cotton species, its evolution has long been an unsolved puzzle because of its hybrid origin from D-genome and A-genome species. To better understand the genetic component of cotton, Huang et al.

PELOTA at the crossroads of tomato fertility and viral resistance
PELOTA (PELO), a conserved ribosome surveillance factor underlying the tomato resistance allele ty‐5, plays key roles in TYLCV susceptibility and reproductive development. Complete loss of PELO function (pelo‐1CR) confers strong resistance to TYLCV but causes severe floral defects, impaired male and female fertility, and complete sterility.

ABSTRACT Rubisco activase (RCA) is critical for maintaining photosynthetic efficiency under heat stress, yet its regulatory mechanisms and functional diversification remain poorly understood. Here, we characterize a novel heat‐inducible RCA family member (RCA1), which plays a pivotal role in mediating multidimensional thermotolerance in a tropical ...

ABSTRACT Global food demand is predicted to rise anywhere from 59% to 98% by 2050 because of increasing population. However, the continued depletion of natural resources and increasing biotic and abiotic stresses will continue to pose significant threats to global food security in coming years.

Comparison of yarn properties of gossypium hirsutum and naturally colored gossypium arboreum cotton
Naturally colored cotton can be a highly sustainable alternative to conventional cotton which entails huge consumption of water, energy, and chemicals in scouring, bleaching and dyeing.

Additive Variance and Open‐Pollinated Progenies Under Mixed Mating
ABSTRACT Open‐pollinated progeny tests are still widely interpreted as if all the individuals within a maternal family were true half‐sibs. However, in species with mixed mating systems, this assumption is often biologically unrealistic and may bias the estimation of the additive variance, narrow‐sense heritability and expected selection gains.

Elargissement de la base génétique de la principale espèce de cotonnier cultivé Gossypium hirsutum L. par la création et l'exploitation de lignées monosomiques d'addition [PDF]
Genetic broadening of the main cultivated cotton species Gossypium hirsutum L. by creation and exploitation of monosomic alien addition lines. The genus Gossypium is composed of about forty wild diploïd species that constitute an important reservoir of ...
