A Repertoire of Major Genes From Crop Wild Relatives for Breeding Disease‐Resistant Wheat, Rice, Maize, Soybean and Cotton Crops

open access: yesPlant Breeding, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Global food demand is predicted to rise anywhere from 59% to 98% by 2050 because of increasing population. However, the continued depletion of natural resources and increasing biotic and abiotic stresses will continue to pose significant threats to global food security in coming years.

Artificial intelligence‐powered plant phenomics: Progress, challenges, and opportunities

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI), a key driver of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is being rapidly integrated into plant phenomics to automate sensing, accelerate data analysis, and support decision‐making in phenomic prediction and genomic selection.

Drone‐based phenotyping of maize for multiple disease resistance and yield in breeding field trials

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract Improving selection for multiple disease resistance (MDR) and yield in maize (Zea mays L.) requires high‐throughput, objective phenotyping tools, particularly under field conditions where several foliar diseases co‐occur. We evaluated drone‐based multispectral vegetation indices (VIs) for predicting resistance to northern leaf blight (NLB ...

Fendioxypyracil, a new and systemic PPO‐inhibiting herbicide for X‐spectrum weed control

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 6794-6807, July 2026.
This graphical abstract presents the discovery and synthesis of PPO herbicide structures with a central pyridine core, showing molecular conformations, dose–response inhibition curves for PPO1 and PPO2, and comparative weed and grass control efficacy of fendioxypyracil versus other herbicides in greenhouse and field trials.

Transcript mapping of Cotton leaf curl Burewala virus and its cognate betasatellite, Cotton leaf curl Multan betasatellite

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2012
Background Whitefly-transmitted geminiviruses (family Geminiviridae, genus Begomovirus) are major limiting factors for the production of numerous dicotyledonous crops throughout the warmer regions of the world.

Identification and Biocontrol of Mindarus japonicus Takahashi, a New Pest of Abies koreana E.H.Wilson Using Bacillus velezensis CE 100

open access: yesEntomological Research, Volume 56, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Subalpine conifers such as Abies koreana E.H.Wilson (Korean fir) play a significant ecological role but are increasingly endangered due to the effects of climate change, including the high prevalence of insect pests. This study identified for the first time, a notorious aphid pest on newly developed needles and twigs of A.

Selection of target sequences as well as sequence identity determine the outcome of RNAi approach for resistance against cotton leaf curl geminivirus complex

open access: yesVirology Journal, 2011
Cotton leaf curl disease is caused by a geminivirus complex that involves multiple distinct begomoviruses and a disease-specific DNA satellite, cotton leaf curl Multan betasatellite (CLCuMB), which is essential to induce disease symptoms.

Modeling and analysis for the transmission dynamics of cotton leaf curl virus using fractional order derivatives

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
In this study, we examine the Atangana Baleanu Caputo fractional order for the transmission dynamics of the Cotton Leaf Curl Virus disease. The model took into account both cotton plants and vector populations.

SLCMV‐Encoded BC1 Protein Suppresses Photosynthesis by Disrupting Chloroplast Structure and Gene Expression

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
SLCMV infection suppresses photosynthesis by down‐regulating chloroplast‐ and photosystem‐related genes and disrupting chloroplast structure, a process largely mediated by the viral protein BC1. ABSTRACT Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV) is a highly destructive plant virus that poses a significant threat to cassava cultivation.

Cotton leaf curl disease, a multicomponent begomovirus complex

open access: yesMolecular Plant Pathology, 2003
SUMMARY Cotton leaf curl is a serious disease of cotton and several other malvaceous plant species that is transmitted by the whitefly Bemisia tabaci . The disease is, at this time, endemic throughout Pakistan and epidemic in Western India.
