Cellulitis in Japanese Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica)
Avian Diseases, 2003A case of cellulitis was observed in Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) reared for commercial meat production. This condition in Japanese quail has not been reported in the literature. This incident was the first, and to date only, occurrence of cellulitis in this processing plant.

The Development and Differentiation of the Parabronchial Unit in Quail (Coturnix coturnix)
European Journal of Morphology, 1998The present study has been inspired by the conflicting data in the relevant literature concerning the embryogenesis of cell types of the parabronchial epithelium and the formation, discharge and distribution of trilaminar substance and lamellar bodies.

Ultrastructure of the subfornical organ of the Japanese quail, Coturnix coturnix
Cell and Tissue Research, 1978The structure of the subfornical organ (SFO) of the Japanese quail has been studied by light and electron microscopy. The SFO is a small semiglobular bulge in the midline on the rostrodorsal wall of the third ventricle between the anterior commissure and tela choroidea.

Mycotic Salpingitis in a Japanese Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica)
Avian Diseases, 1994An adult female Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) was received for postmortem examination. Necropsy revealed the presence of white to grayish nodules 2-5 mm in diameter on the serosal surface of the oviduct. Aspergillus flavus was isolated from these nodules in pure culture.

Ultrastructural study of ochratoxicosis in quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica)
Research in Veterinary Science, 1987Ultrathin sections of liver and kidney from 11-week-old quail fed, from day-old, ochratoxin A (OA) (mixed in the diet at levels of 4 and 8 ppm) were examined in the electron microscope. Pathological changes in the kidneys were limited to the proximal convoluted tubules (PCT) and glomeruli.

Fine resolution of the karyogram of the quail Coturnix coturnix japonica
Chromosoma, 1965The authors have studied the karyogram of the quail Corturnix coturnix japonica in kidney-cells cultures, fixed while still wet and stained with iron haematoxilin and with the Feulgen technique.

Prevalence of enteropathogenic bacteria in common quail (Coturnix coturnix)
Avian Pathology, 2014The study was aimed at evaluating the prevalence of enteropathogenic bacteria (i.e. Campylobacter spp., shigatoxin-producing Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp.) in common quail (Coturnix coturnix). To achieve this goal, 70 common quails were collected during the hunting season in the Campania region (southern Italy). From each bird, cloacal swab samples

Serum proteins of the Japanese quail, Coturnix coturnix Japonica
Comparative Biochemistry and Physiology Part B: Comparative Biochemistry, 1971Abstract 1. 1. Fractionation of quail serum indicated two major protein components, one of which was an albumin fraction, and the other, a large molecular weight lipoprotein fraction. 2. 2. Quail serum albumin was physically and immunologically similar to chicken serum albumin. 3. 3.

Effects of early experience on fear behaviour of Coturnix coturnix
Animal Behaviour, 1970Abstract Isolated coturnix quail of two post-hatch ages were individually exposed to a moving, flashing, clicking stimulus on the day of hatching. Two other groups received identical treatment except for exposure to the stimulus, and a fifth group was given no initial treatment.
