The influence of wall roughness on bubble drag reduction in Taylor-Couette turbulence [PDF]
We experimentally study the influence of wall roughness on bubble drag reduction in turbulent Taylor-Couette flow, i.e.\ the flow between two concentric, independently rotating cylinders.

Since the pioneering work of Taylor, the analysis of flow regimes of incompressible, viscous fluids contained in circular Couette systems with independently rotating cylinders have charmed many researchers.

Unbalanced instabilities of rapidly rotating stratified shear flows [PDF]
The linear stability of a rotating, stratified, inviscid horizontal plane Couette flow in a channel is studied in the limit of strong rotation and stratification. An energy argument is used to show that unstable perturbations must have large wavenumbers.

On the existence of two-dimensional nonlinear steady states in plane Couette flow
The problem of two-dimensional steady nonlinear dynamics in plane Couette flow is revisited using homotopy from either plane Poiseuille flow or from plane Couette flow perturbed by a small symmetry-preserving identity operator.

Couette Flow of a Yield-Stress Fluid With Slip As Studied by Rheo-Piv
The Couette flow of a model yield-stress fluid with slip at the walls, a 0.12% Carbopol® 940 microgel, was analyzed in this work by simultaneous rheometrical and particle image velocimetry measurements (Rheo-PIV).

Subcritical Equilibria in Taylor-Couette Flow [PDF]
Nonlinear equilibrium states characterized by strongly localized vortex pairs are calculated in the linearly stable parameter region of counterrotating Taylor-Couette flow. These subcritical states are rotating waves whose region of existence is consistent with the critical threshold for relaminarization observed in experiments.

Flow in a concentric annular passage with a rotating inner cylinder, which is called Taylor-Couette flow, is important in industrial applications, such as electric motor which requires not only effective cooling of rotating shaft but also saving power ...

Vortex Model of Plane Couette Flow
We present the theoretical description of plane Couette flow based on the previously proposed equations of vortex fluid, which take into account both the longitudinal flow and the vortex tubes rotation.

The liquid crystal-based method is a new technology developed for flow visualizations and measurements at microscale with great potentials. It is the priority to study the flow characteristics before implementation of such a technology.

Numerical Turbulent Flow Analysis through a Rotational Heat Recovery System
Herein, hydrodynamic analysis from a large-eddy simulation in Couette–Taylor–Poiseuille (CTP) geometry is numerically investigated. The present geometry is inspired by a previous experimental work in which heat transport phenomena were investigated in a ...
